Rooms after rooms, lessons after lessons on fighting and defense, the two children learned. They grew closer and stronger by each other's side.

The woman adored the two and would never admit it, but she cared deeply for them and was prepared to give up her life to protect these kids.

She's come close to dying for them twice now, she realized both were done without hesitation; this worries her. How could she get so close to these two in a month?

"Next room!" Cal announced as the last hilichurl sharpshooter was cut down by her sharpened makeshift pole arm.

"Can we take a break?" Ajax whined out pitifully.

"You're such a child." Cal mumbled under her breath, not going unnoticed by the red headed boy.

Standing up from his sitting position he glared at her,"What did you call me?"

Callista smiled smugly and challenged his look with her own mischievous glint,"You're. Such. A. Child."

Ajax gritted his teeth and pushed her a little as a warning on her shoulder.

While the two acted like siblings, when Ajax was hangry, Cal knew how to get on his nerves.

Callista stifled her laugh and spoke "to herself".

"I should call you Childe shouldn't I?"
she stated mockingly tapping her chin in fabricated thought.

Skirk watched the interacting with an amused look. Preparing a fire to cook some food for them each, she observed in case there was a need to intervene at some point.

Ajax snapped his head towards the girl quickly. He leapt at her back successfully pushing her onto the ground. The look in his eye foreign from what either of the girls had seen.

"Hey! Get- off! Childe!" Cal yelled at him as she kicked her feet. She struggled to twist her head to look at the boy, only to find a rapid look in the boys eyes.

"Skirk! Get him!" The exclamation alerted the swordswoman and she snapped her head in the direction.

Quickly jumping to her feet she called out,"Ajax! Get off- what are you doing?!"

Ajax didn't budge, just holding the younger girl down with his knee implanted painfully on her back and holding his hand on her head. The pressure of the boy on her back and the ground made her yell out in pain.

Skirk attempted to pull the boy off, to not avail. With no other idea of how to get him off, she placed her index finger and thumb on a pressure point in his neck.

After squeezing, the pressure that was being placed on Cal was relieved. Ajax slipped out of consciousness and into Skirks arms. She lifted him and looked at Callista.

She set him down for a moment to help Callista up and assure herself she didn't have any wounds that needed immediate attention. Sighing in relief, the two pair of eyes made their way over towards the unconscious boy.

They shared a concerned look but set it aside and made their way to the food. Skirk set the boy down and covered him with her cloak.

Callista sat down with her knees up to her chest, eyeing him with many emotions. Why did the boy she thought of as her brother grow so violent so quickly?

Only time will tell, the two girls thought.
