"NO SLEEPING IN MY CLASS, MISS BISHOP." Mrs. Elizabeth tapped on my desk, I had my head in my arms trying not to fall asleep.

"Sorry, I had a rough night last night." I replied softly, resting my cheek on my palm. She simply nodded and walked off back to the front of the class.

I paid zero attention to what she was saying. I started to doze off again until something hit my shoe making me jump slightly. I looked down at the floor to see a folded piece of paper.

I looked around the classroom only to lock eyes with Squints, he and I had gotten closer since we've met which was last week. He was practically my best friend, besides Wendy.

I pretended to drop my pencil and I bent down to pick the "pencil" up. I snatched the paper up quickly and opened it up to see messy handwriting, it wasn't too messy so luckily I could read it.

You alright? ~ Squints :)

I thought of something to say before writing it down.

I'm fine, just my mom yelled all night last night with my dad. Apparently she's found her a boyfriend. ~ Mercedes <3

I folded the paper back up neatly and dropped it on the floor, kicking it towards Squints casually. He picked it up and read it, shaking his head a tiny bit.

He wrote something down and passed it back to me. I waited a few seconds to open the note, the teacher turned her back away from us so I opened the note.

Oh, well I'm here if you need me. I know what you're going through. ~ Squints :)

I looked up at him and smiled a bit, he returned the smile and turned his attention back to the teacher.

I felt a pair of eyes on me but I ignored it, probably some weirdo looking at me like I'm a piece of meat.

For the rest of the class I doodled in my journal, just random stuff such as butterflies, flowers, basically anything. I only doodle in my journal when I'm trying to keep myself entertained. I was surprisingly good at drawing, I'm not very artsy though I would much rather play baseball then sit in my room and draw all day.

Suddenly the bell rang and everyone jumped up, it wasn't so quiet anymore. Everyone was talking super loud.

I got up and began packing, Squints came up beside me and poked my side making me jump a tiny bit.

"What's up Bishop." He gives me a goofy grin, pushing his glasses up on his nose. I couldn't help but return the grin.

"Nothing much, what about you Mr. Palledorous?" I ruffled his hair, this made him roll his eyes and place his hat on his head.

"Don't touch the perfection." He rolled his eyes, grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the classroom. We walked to our lockers.

We met up with another one of Squints' friends on the way there, they talked a lot. I was getting a little annoyed with them but I ignored it.

"C'mon, benny is definitely going to be the next Babe Ruth." The boy said, I still didn't know his name but I wasn't going to ask him.

"Someone was talking about me?" The mystery boy from last week walked out from behind me and leaned up against a locker. Somehow I always saw him around the school, and I looked forward to seeing him everyday although we haven't held but one conversation.

"Oh! Benny, this is Mercedes, Mercedes this is Benny." Squints smiles, gesturing to the two of us with his hands.

Benny stuffed his hands into his pockets, looking down at me slightly. He was a bit intimidating because in order to look at him I had to look up slightly.

"I've heard a lot about you." He flashed me a smile, his smile was super contagious or something because for some reason I smiled back immediately.

"All good stuff I hope."

He lets out a breathy laugh, shaking his head. "Don't worry, it's all good stuff." He reassured, pushing himself off of the locker.

He held his hand out for me to shake, in which I did. He held onto my hand for quite a bit, but dropped it once he noticed it. It made me a bit confused.

"Pleasure to meet you, pretty girl. But I've got to go, I'll see you guys later." He walked off, winking at me. I blushed at this guy's boldness. Squints and his friend teased me about my red cheeks and I waved them off.

-

"He winked at you and called you pretty girl?!" Wendy yelled, stuffing her face with the brownies we had made. I nodded my head, my cheeks heating up just thinking about what happened.

"Woah.. since when was he... bold?"

I shrugged my shoulders, I barely knew this kid how would I know.

Wendy and I ended the conversation there and started talking about something else. She talked about fashion while I talked about baseball and Babe Ruth. I'm pretty sure she had no clue about what I was talking about whatsoever, but she pretended to understand.

She replied with "mhm", "that's crazy", "oh wow", "yeah, that's cool!".

Soon enough it was dark outside.

"We should probably head to bed." I yawned. Wendy nodded and we got into bed turning off the lights, we both mumbled good nights to each other and fell asleep.

I fell asleep with one thing on my mind. Benny.
