It's his sixth month working for Mr. Olumide. Everyone could testify that Mike was loyal to him.The same month was Jennifer's eleventh month working for the same boss. She has always been the boss's favourite until Mike came and took her place.
She still had her position but all attention was given to Mike. He gets tips more often. The boss felt so free with Mike that they, most times, engaged in serious personal and jovial discussions. The bond between the two men waxed stronger.
Mike and Jennifer were close as well. He buys her stuff sometimes on his way from the market to the extent that Madam Janet was suspecting that something could be going on between them.
It wasn't her business anyway, as long as her husband is not involved, especially with the lady. That was her concern.
She won't let any woman take her man the way she did to get him away from his ex wife.
At this point, she was about six months pregnant. Pregnancy had taken a toll on her. All necessary assistance was made available to ensure that she isn't stressed. For her sake and the unborn baby.
Sometimes, Madam Janet would start screaming from her room,
"Jennifer leave my husband. Leave my husband alone o. I will not let you snatch him away from me."
It wasn't understandable that pregnant women could behave funny at times but Jennifer was no longer finding it funny.
It's always her in her madam's lips. She has become a nightmare.
One week later, madam Janet ran downstairs from her room and fired Jennifer.
Mrs Olumide Janet was sleeping that afternoon. In her dream, she saw Jennifer walking down the aisle with Mr. Olumide, her husband. She was weeping uncontrollably in the dream such that she woke up in tears.
She stood up immediately, started cursing as she walked down the staircase. As soon as she was done ranting she told Jennifer;
"Pick your things and leave before you destroy my home."
Jennifer was startled.
Mike went in, calmed the pregnant lady and helped walk her up stairs. He came down and found Jennifer in tears on the couch.
He consoled her with the best words he could utter.
"You know she's pregnant and you understand how pregnant women behave. I know she didn't mean it. You're not going anywhere", he assured her.
Jennifer immediately called her boss and told him what his wife said. He asked her to hold on till he returned.
When he got back, he went upstairs to check on his wife. She was fine. He brought up Jennifer's case and she insisted that she must leave because she feels Jennifer is tracking spiritually.
"I keep seeing her in my dreams, making me cry. I don't want her to make me cry in reality as she does in my dreams. You know I have our baby inside of me and we don't know what she could be up to", she said, acting like a kid who's about to cry.
"But... sweetheart, what does she do to you in your dreams? You know some dreams could mean something else."
She feigns annoyance, "Are you saying I am lying? I said she's always in my dream torturing me. I don't know if she's putting something in my food already. Tell her to go or I won't stop crying."
