FINALÉ
"Sir, we were able to reach him. We had a good talk and he promised to communicate with his lawyer and from there, we will head to court", Barr. Sam told Pastor Desmond.
"How were you able to convince him for a conversation? That was someone who threw us out of his house", The pastor inquired.
"Never mind sir, I am a law practitioner and we are trained for this' ', he refused to disclose how they got Mr. Olumide's attention.
"Alright then, so we are looking forward to seeing him tomorrow, right?
"Yes sir"
"It's okay. I'll have to go home now, you know it's getting late and my wife..."
"Aaahh... we understand sir", they joked as they interrupted him.
They stood up at once, shook hands and left the restaurant in their various cars.
Mr. Olumide got home that evening and was still quite unsettled about the day's events. He couldn't believe people were trailing him all these while,
"So, if they intended to kill me, they would have successfully done it silently. My God! I love my wife and can't afford to lose her. Ahhhhh! My baby is almost three years old and I can't afford to lose sight.
"But Gbemi... Gbemi is good in bed. She has all the 'bedmatic' skills I fantasize about. I can't let her go either, instead, I'll secretly marry her and buy her a house...
"...And yes, Mike, how true is he? How can he say he isn't the one who sent the threat? Jennifer's number is no longer reachable, how sure am I that if I get him released, he won't come for me and my family?
"If I refuse, my family name, business and family may come to ruin with what those men have on me. What do I do now?"
He thought through the night and finally slept off about a few minutes past 3:00 AM. The next morning, he made some few phone calls to effect Mike's release.
Now these calls were to bypass formal procedures. He had to pay a huge amount of money to that effect. Money wasn't his problem, anyway, not a big deal.
A meeting was held with Mr. Olumide, his lawyer and Pastor Desmond team in attendance. An agreement was reached that Mike must steer clear of his family and property, and if he's ever found anywhere near, he'd be rearrested and jailed.
They both agreed and necessary signatories were done.
In the prison, Mike and others were observing their morning devotion. The atmosphere that morning seemed different. It was lively. They couldn't tell the reason why they all seem to have forgotten where they were and having a good time.
They sang and danced in a circle. Drummers beat their palms on the wall while others clapped. Two other persons sang while two steps into the ring competing for the better dancer. It continued till they all took their turns. It was fun.
At midday, after they all had their bath, there was calm within the cell. Everyone was looking moody as if a family member had d!ed. No one could explain what led to the quietness and sad looks on everyone's face.
Bola stood up and began motivating others,
"You know, guys, we are all we have here. This is obviously not a good place to be but, trust me, we won't be here forever. A day would come, we would walk out of this place and never return again. Pending that time, let's be there for each other. Encourage one another to stay strong.
