Chapter 24

Ani and Aeriin were driving around town. The Hunter and Demons had decided to split up to cover more ground on their patrol, so of course the love birds went together.

"With the amount of demons Darcel and I killed, I doubt that we're going to run into any thing." Ani told her.

"You probably just jinxed us." Aeriin rolled her eyes as she pulled over and watched a large group of people leave a bar across the street. "Are they all human?"

"One of them is a werewolf." Ani answered without even looking.

"And you don't think that's a hazard?" Aeriin questioned.

"I'm a vampire, and you don't mind me sitting in the passenger seat of your car." Came Ani's witty response.

"Well if you sat behind me then you'd be able to reach around and bite my neck." Aeriin glared.

"True." Ani shrugged. "Not all demons are bad Aeriin." Ani answered. "That werewolf only wants to have a good time with his friends. Two of those friends know he's a werewolf, and they accept him."

Aeriin couldn't help but smile at the sight. "So what happened to all your sexual frustration?" Aeriin asked.

"Taraka."

"Excuse me?" Aeriin spun around to glare at her companion.

"Shit! I didn't mean it like that! Succubi have the ability to pull lust out of the body, the same way they can put it in." Ani explained. "You should know better than to think I'd ever cheat on you. Especially with her."

Aeriin narrowed her eyes before looking back towards the group of people. "So we have nothing to worry about from him?"

"No." Ani answered. "If I hear the thoughts of someone looking to hurt someone, I'll let you know. Honestly I wish we were away from this bar because all I'm getting is 'More drinks!' and 'that bartender is so fucking hot.'" Ani groaned and Aeriin laughed.

"If I distracted you, would that be bad?"

"As much as I'd enjoy you going down on me while we're supposed to be on patrol, we're supposed to be on patrol." Ani smirked. "When we get home love, I'll let you do as you please."

"You'll let me?" Aeriin scoffed. "Relationships involved two people hun. You can't just let this be one sided."

"I'd never." Ani planted a kiss on Aeriin's cheek getting her to smile.

"Nothing over here." Darcel thought to Ani.

Aeriin raised her phone just as Morgan's text came in telling them that it was clear in her sector. The two of them responded to their companions with the same answer.

"Can you and I just drive away, and never look back?" Ani questioned.

"What?"

"Just put your foot on the gas, and keep going straight, no matter which way that takes us, just keep going until we can't anymore."

"What brought that on?"

"I love you Aeriin." Ani answered, looking at the hunter with her soft bronze eyes that looked like they were trying to say a million things, but there weren't enough languages to say them all. "I want to spend my eternity with you, and only with you. And there is no one else in this world I would rather be with, than you. You are my entire universe Aeriin. Let's just leave together and never look back."

Aeriin couldn't hold back her smile, and she leaned over and kissed the vampire on the lips. "I would love to, and honestly it would be so simple to just do so. But the Hunter's Guild would never let us get away with that. They would spend countless resources trying to find us, specifically for you."
