CHAPTER Eight

Mason and I are settled reading the text while I'm helping myself with Tulip's cupcakes, Mason doesn't seem to want it.

My phone buzzes in my hands I check to see a text from Austen then it hits me, I left the game without it being over or telling Austen about it. If I had stuck to being the Aranya without friends at all I wouldn't have to be in this worrying situation.

Now I did bad, I never have to feel sorry to people cause I never cared to have people in my life to do so cause with people there are complications but this time I chose him as a friend.

Others wouldn't care less even if I push them away, they'd judge me in their heads and leave but Austen didn't even though Mason also didn't back at Butera High but he left me at the end.

So why did I choose to be friends with Austen cause I knew I had to loosen up a bit and Austen seems to be someone to do that with.

**I didn't find you anywhere after the game which means you left, anything the matter?**

I sigh texting back **I have an assignment I'm working on which made me leave urgently but you were great with what I saw at the game**

**Smiles...I'm getting a compliment from you Aranya again, I'm honoured**

This makes me smile

"Who is that causing you to smile"

I turn to see Mason looking at me with his eyebrows raised

I send him a sly smile "My lover of course"

He scoffs "Austen?"

"Who else do I love" I say looking at my phone

**Anyway I'd see you tomorrow** he texts again

"You can't text in the middle of an assignment" Mason says looking irritated

**sure** I reply putting my phone down

"I didn't know that Williams" I say taking a bite from my cupcake. I notice Mason staring at my lips

"What" I demand looking at him wondering if I have something on my face.

He smiles standing up, he walks over to me leaning close to my face. His warm breath fanning my cheeks as we stare into each other's eyes. His hands brushes the corner of my lips slowly

"You got cupcake crumbs on your lips" he says softly but my eyes are still lost in his as he looks at me tenderly making me wonder what happened back then, why he left me if he's still this caring to me. I never got an explanation except coming to school back at Butera High to find people talking of Mason and Lily being together the previous night and also finding out Mason had withdrawn from the school.

Since he left me back then his actions now means nothing cause he's only going to leave again.

My phone vibrates in my hands jerking me back to my senses. Mason moves away giving me room to check the caller ID

"Your lover again" He huffs

"My mom" I hiss at him picking the call

'Hey mom are you back yet'

'Yes Aranya and I can't find you anywhere in the house' comes my mom's worried voice, I turn to the window to realize it's late

'I'm doing an assignment but I'd be back in no time' I say hanging up, I look up at Mason "We'd continue later, I have to go" I tell him standing up

"I'd drop you off" he offers

"Don't bother Austen is picking me up" I lie "He'd be here in no time"
