The bright sunlight and the faint hint of a rainbow from the windows shines over Louis face in the early hours of the morning. Opening his eyes to see the constellations on his ceiling. Louis is in awe of the moon and the stars. He would stay up looking out of his window or lying in the garden of the castle watching the sky for hours on end.

He wakes up to his footman looking through his closet, most likely picking out his outfit for the day (though Louis was fully capable himself).

"Brennan? Is that you?" Louis whisper shouts sitting up in his bed.

"Oh! Good morning your highness, excuse my intruding," He says turning and walking towards Louis cautiously, "Your mother sent me to pick out an outfit for a special occasion."

Louis racks his memory of any special event that he knew of. When he came up empty handed, he knew it was only proper to ask politely.

"May I ask what the special occasion is?"

"Your mother gave me instructions not to tell, as though you may resist the mere idea." He stated secretively.

Swinging his legs over to the side of the bed, Louis grabs his water glass next to the bed and sips lightly. Eyeing the footman carefully. He moves on knowing he won't get anything out of the man if his mother ordered so.

The footman moved on quickly, "Here is said outfit," handing Louis a light blue blazer, a black button up, and some black dress pants which seemed to have a glimmer in them, "You best get ready quickly and head down to the dining room."

And with that, the footman was out of the room faster than Louis could read a page of an Edgar Allen Poe poem. Those were his favorite.

Louis got up slowly knowing if he were to get up too quickly, he'd see stars. That seemed to happen a lot to him in the morning and he had no idea or explanation of why.

He washed himself which usually the footman would do, but Louis had ordered him previously that he could do it on his own. He hates the thought that he couldn't do anything on his own. So, he took charge of the few things he could.

He slipped on his pants, well, they didn't necessarily slip on. He had to jump a few times for them to slip onto his muscular legs. Either way, he eventually finished getting ready and sprayed himself with some pine fragrance he got in town. He walked briskly out of his room and down the stairs to the left of his room. Hearing the echo of his footsteps through the corridors which were lined with stone and fancy window panes.

As he enters the dining room, he feels eyes watching him intently. Turning his head in many directions to meet gazes of many servants around the room. Maybe they've heard the news before he had. News travels fast between people who work at the castle.

He pulls out his chair at his usual spot at the table and sits down. He gently placed the napkin on his lap as a gesture of his manners and cleanliness. His mother taught him well.

"Good morning mother, father." Louis says with a content smile on his face nodding his head towards each of them.

"Good morning Louis." his mother responds politely.

"Good morning Son." his father responds more properly, and he can't remember the last time his father called him by his name.

Just as Louis was going to ask what what's going on, his sisters came skipping into the room with their beautiful dresses flowing through the air. They were always positive and polite. Bringing light into every room they stepped in.

"Morning!" they all say or shout quietly in unison.

"Girls." Jay says sternly. As you can tell she's very picky on manners when it comes to her children. She wants her children to be in a way an example of her and their family.

"Sorry mother I just can't help but be in a good mood!" Daisy says smiling widely.

Is it possible that his siblings knew as well? Is he the only one in this castle who doesn't know?

"What are they talking about mother?" he asks, curiosity getting the better of him.

"Well... I was waiting to bring this up in private but-" she gets cut off by his father.

"You're getting married son." he finishes.

Louis doesn't know if he's still asleep or if he heard correctly. Married? Him? 19 years old? This must be a gag.

"Your playing aren't you." Louis says with a look of playfulness on his face.

"No Louis, this is why we wanted to tell you this in private." his mother says looking his way with comfort. She knew he didn't want this, but at the end of the day it was the queens word against the kings. It is known how that would end.

"But i'm only 19! Surely we can wait a little longer," Louis says in disbelief, "i haven't even learned everything there is to know about ruling a kingdom."

"Yes son, we are aware of that," his father takes a deep breath, as if preparing for a reaction, "which is why we are having your wife to be come here to get to know you while you learn the ways of being a king."

Louis forgets to respond, overcome by shock. This was all happening too fast. He didn't wake up this morning prepared for this news.

He finally gains his voice back, "When is she arriving?"

"It's not just her, it's her family as well," his father dabs his mouth with a napkin, "they'll be here in two days."

Louis can't argue seeing as they've already started traveling. He grabs his silverware and starts eating his breakfast. This was going to be an interesting year and Louis couldn't have been less prepared.
