*Kanao's POV*
(This is shortly after she began her walk)
You know its strange. It was just after midnight when I fell down that rabbit hole, yet here it is long after sunrise. Have I already spent that many ours in this strange place, or did time just work differently? I'm not mad about the strange passage of time however. I lost my katana when I fell down the hole and if there are demons lurking around here, my best defense would be running away.
Interesting timing aside, I needed to get home. If anyone saw me leave the estate so late at night, and not return, they would believe I was dinner for a demon. I can't bear to Imagine how Shinobu San would react. Especially after...*sigh*. I need to find Tanjiro and get both of us home.
Speaking of Tanjiro... after we had our ordeal of me listening to my heart instead of my coin, he's been helping me with my ability to talk to people. He says its repayment for helping train him to regain strength. I'm getting better but I still keep my coin on me if I get too stressed.
Actually, I don't even know if I have my coin with me. If my cape and katana disappeared when I fell down the rabbit hole my coin could have too. Panicked I reach into my pocket ignoring the cookies and bottle. I pull out a small metal disk with heads on one side, tails on the other. I sigh with relief.
Will I even need this? I haven't so far, and I am working on making decisions for myself. I was about to flip the coin to chose what to do when I froze. Quickly I dropped the coin into my pocket.
I kept walking feeling, proud? I had just made the decision to not let fate decide for me. I take a deep breath of the mountainous forest air. I picked up the pace wanting to reach Tanjiro faster, "I can't be that far behind?". I began running down the path feeling adrenaline rush through my body. These situations may seem small to others, but they were huge for me.
My patch of joy ended soon after. I wasn't looking where I was going and almost fell down a steep hill. I was a little embarrassed but managed to get back up. When I looked down I saw a large bolder split down the middle. Around the rock were to people who seemed around my age. A girl with long black hair, wearing a red yukata with pink flowers, and a dark purple sleeveless haoiri, and fox mask on the side of her head. Atop the Boulder was a boy with longish, almost light pink hair. He wore a green and yellow yukata that reminded me of one half of the water pillar's haori, with a plain white haori on top .He also had fox mask but it was covering his face.
I stared at the duo for a short while, they were talking but I couldn't quite make out the words. I turn to continue on the path, however I got so lucky to step in a pile of leaves on my not so stealthy way out. The two turn to look at the noise.
"Hello?"
