Sombra walked through the dense forest, tail between her legs. She had never been out alone at night, and she definitely didn't want to go back home. At this point, Sombra was hungry and cold, the forest was very dark at this time (00:00).
When she had paused to catch her breath from the long walk, a figure flashed by her. She gasped, her fur standing on end. Sombra got into a position in which it would be easy to defend herself, or so she thought. Just then the figure leapt onto her and pinned her to the ground. "Who are you?!" Sombra hissed, swatting at the figures face. Just then a small, plump mouse was dropped onto her face. She let out a surprised yell that echoed through the forest. The figure carefully got off of her and walked to the side. Sombra shook the mouse off her face and stared at it for a while in silence. Eventually, the figure broke the silence. "Are you going to eat or continue to starve?" Said a calm, persuading voice. Sombra flinched, now staring at the figure which she could see clearly. It was a tall, gray cat with wings and purple eyes, kind of like Sombra but taller, more markings, and..well, wings. Sombra also noticed that she didn't have as many scars as herself, in fact, she didn't have any scars. The cat spoke again; "Well Miss Blank-Stare?" Sombra nodded slowly and began eating the mouse. She felt her body relax slowly, her fur resting. The cat stared at her before looking up at the roofed night sky. The leaves from the thick oak trees left it hard to see the sky but there were some patches in which you could see some of it. The silence was interrupted by quick, strong breeze. It was so strong it almost knocked Sombra off her paws, but she was able to keep her ground. "Umm.. thanks for the mouse..I guess.." Sombra finally spoke, nervous as usual to speak to strangers. The cat spoke; "Anything for a youngster like you, you're skin and bones." Sombra looked at her sides, then back at the cat. "My name's Sombra by the way.. you.?" She said quietly, thinking that if she were to be any louder, even the smallest mouse could hear her. "Smokey." The cat spoke, flicking their ear. Sombra slowly stood up and walked up to Smokey. "How did you know I was here.?" She asked carefully. Smokey stared at her before responding; "I saw you run out of that den while I was flying, I decided to follow you shortly after." Sombra look behind herself. "You mean.. the den out of the dense forest and in a mountainy area?" She asked softly. Smokey sighed before nodding. "Does that mean you live here also?!" Sombra said, excited. Her mood was quickly crushed though once Smokey responded. "No, I'm just passing through." Smokey said. Sombra looked down at her paws, disappointed. "Are you going back home?" Smokey said to break the silence. Sombra hissed, her fur puffed out again. "Hell no! I'm not going back to that fucking hell-house!" Sombra held back her tears. Smokey back up slightly. "That's why you ran away? Was it really that bad?" Smokey said as if it was urgent. Sombra realized what she had did and forced her body to relax. She slowly nodded and began to walk further into the dense forest until she was stopped by Smokey again. "Here.. travel with me." Smokey said calmly. Sombra stared at her with a look that read 'are you serious?' Smokey nodded and then placed Sombra onto her back. Sombra fidgeted as Smokey took off into the sky through a patch in the leaves. The stars were bright in the night sky, and Sombra would get used to trips like this very soon.
