~Sombra's POV~
I awoke to birds chirping in the distance, it had been a while since I had gotten a good night's rest. I noticed I wasn't back home, it took me a little bit before I remembered what happened last night. "That's right!" I thought to myself. "I ran away last night and ran into Smokey!" God I'm lucky they were around.." I continued to think to myself when I heard footsteps come to the entrance of the den. I looked up and saw Smokey with a bag in their jaws. "What do you have there?" I meowed quietly with a slight yawn. Smokey set down the bag and replied to me; "herbs." I got up onto my paws and stretched before padding over. "Why herbs?" I asked. Smokey stared at me, as if the answer was obvious. "Why else? You're sort of sick right now, haven't you noticed?" They replied, quite concerned. "I a-" I was cut off by a sneeze. "See?" They said before shoving a herb in my face. I took the herb and began eating it, it tasted foul. I shivered in disgust before looking at Smokey. "I know it's disgusting but it helps in the long run." They meowed. "Now come on, let me show you the temporary area." They added, padding out of the den. I followed behind them, trying to keep up so I didn't get lost. The area was a lot nicer than I expected it to be, coming from the mountain range anyway. The area had fresh green grass, nice oak trees, and bright 'n blooming flowers. The sky was cloudy and it looked like it was going to storm. Smokey dashed into a quite dense part of the woodland forest, leaving me standing exactly where I was left. I stood there until I heard rustling from the grass and bushes in the forest. I crouched down, ready to pounce. Smokey came out with a rabbit in their jaws. They set the rabbit down, flicking their tail. "Defensive much?" Smokey said as my body relaxed. I sighed, slightly nodding in response. "..was home life that bad?" Smokey added, their voice worried. "It was.. worse than here." I said, not wanting to get into my gruesome past. Just then, lighting struck. The large crack shattered the air before rain fell. Smokey urged me along as we ran back to the den, rabbit in their jaws.Once we got back to the den, Smokey once again set down the rabbit. I sat beside them and we both began eating it. More thunder struck in the area, the rain was heavy, winds strong. Once I finished my side of the rabbit, I walked to a moss bed in a corner of the den. I kneaded the moss bedding slightly before crawling into it. I wrapped my tail around my side and rested my head on my paws as my eyes slowly shut. However, I couldn't sleep. Frustrated, I got up and padded to the entrance of the den and watched the rain and the thunder striking in the distance. Smokey stared at me before padding over and sitting next to me. They looked like they wanted to say something but remained quiet. "Why are you so quiet? Did I say something?" I thought to myself. "Maybe it's just me.. being here." I thought again. I looked up at the sky as the rain softened and there was no more thunder. Eventually, the rain stopped and the clouds were slowly disappearing, revealing the stars. Smokey yawned and padded to their moss bed. "Come on Sombra, get some rest. We go to meet a good friend of mine tomorrow." They meowed, voice tired as they curled up in their nest and began sleeping. I nodded slowly and padded over to my bed. I stared closely before curling up in it and slowly falling asleep as thoughts filled my mind. "Who is this friend.. are they important? Are they nice? How far away are they.." Then, it went dark.
