Your Guardian
Innocent eyes should widen with fright
as blood fills the air, like dark fills the night.
You should be away not part of this war
Where so many friends continue to fall
Those eyes wander over the barbaric sight
Yet you do not flee, you continue to fight
You’re just a boy you shouldn’t feel such hate
Instead of love that feeling escalates
Although you are young, you have your pride
Your duty is to protect not run and hide
You are here for personal reasons as well
A dear friend got hurt and it pains you like hell
You look at the enemy hate in young eyes
The man just chuckles, for you’re just a child
You hate that feeling, being seen as weak
You have worked hard and have prepared for this
You aren’t stupid and you are not afraid
You made a promise and it will stay that way
All I do is lay here and watch
my life draining away with each tick of the clock.
I will try and support you as much as I can
I’ll watch from the heavens when I fade away
