He hated planes. They were hot, crowded, always-to-bright, tubes of metal in the air. Once you were in one, there was no way out.

Karl wasn't really a people person. He wasn't shy, but he was very picky about personal space. Currently, it seemed like everyone on this plane was trying to be in his bubble. That was bothersome.

...

After some trouble finding his apartment number, Karl had officially made it to his new home.
He was starting to move around the boxes that had arrived there into the proper rooms, and get the stuff he would need that night where it should be. Because it was 1 o'clock by the time he finished and he was pretty sluggish from the plane ride, he decided just to go out and get some food instead of trying to cook . He checked is face on his phone camera, grabbed the key to his apartment and his wallet, and was out the door.

While he was walking from the door to his apartment he kept his eyes trained on the ground. He was mentally doubled checking he had everything he needed, and didn't hear the door opening in front of him. Soon enough, there was a collision.

"Oh my god, are you all right?" a soft British accent questioned,

He looked up to see a short brunette man closing the door next to his.

"I'm fine, thanks. I'm so sorry for running into", he replied quietly

"It's alright. Can't say it hasn't happened before. Are you the new resident in 405? Me and my fiancé live in 404."

"Uh, yeah...I moved here from North Carolina."

"That's lovely! Since your new around here, I'd suggest visiting the Daily Grind. It's between Prince and Queen street in town. It's a lovely place for coffee and a good lunch. I'm passing it on my way out if you'd like me to show you?"

"Thanks for the recommendation, but I think I can get there myself. I want to look around town a bit."

"Alright then! When you get back, knock on my door and we can talk for a while. I'm George by the way", the man reached his hand out to Karl.

"I'm Karl", he replied while stretching his hand out towards the other, "I'll have to take you up on that. It was really nice meeting you!"

"Nice meeting you too!"

And with that, they walked away.

...

He has some trouble finding the coffee shop George mentioned, but he made it there eventually.

As soon as he walked in he loved the place.

It was lots of wood and earth tones, and smelt strongly of bread and coffee grounds. He started to look around the area and noticed a big chalk board wall that listed a menu.  He wandered over to it and started looking. They had all kinds of stuff from coffee and smoothies, to breakfast burritos and sandwiches. As it was around lunch time and he hadn't eaten for a good while, he was ready for a warm meal. He ended up deciding on an Irish Cream cold brew and a bacon cheeseburger. Now ready to order, he walked to the cash register and finally noticed the guy behind it.

And damn was he cute.

With a plain black hat and dark, dark brown hair. Karl was already becoming incapacitated.
He had some scruff on his face and such sweet blue eyes. At this point Karl was half forgetting he was up there to order.

"Hi! What can I get for you?" The voice of the pretty man started.

"Oh. Um, hi. Just a Irish Cream over ice and a bacon cheeseburger please." He responded in return, still pretty nervous over him.

"Just bacon and cheese?"

He flashed an absolutely heartstopping grin.

Poor guy barely managed a nod.

"Alrighty. Your total is $15.45. Will that be cash or card?"

"Card" Karl's voice slightly shaken by the others confidence.

"Okayyy." He gently took the card from Karl's hand. Upon receiving it, he took a quick look at the name.

"Karl with a K huh? That's a cute name for a very cute boy" He stated with the utmost confidence,

"Thank you! What's yours?" Karl questioned in return to the cute cashier, his face visibly redder then ever.

"You can just call me Sapnap."
"Intresting."
"That it is."

...

Karl had received and eaten his food what felt like forever ago now. It was great and all, but what he really had on his mind was the cute guy there. When he handed him his card back and when he handed him his drink their hands brushed together, and it gave Karl tingles all throughout his fingers.

He ended up getting the confidence to ask for his number, and he now had the contact in his phone as "Cutenap". He was  walking back to the apartment complex with what remained of his coffee in hand, and a little more pep in his step. He was excited to talk to George and his fiancé a little more.

...

Time is,
Slowly.
Tracing his face-
But strangely, he feels at home in this place.
