He decided when he got back to the apartment complex he would talk to his neighbor George a bit more. He seemed like a cool guy.
He walked up to 405 and knocked. After some shuffling around inside, a tall man with dirty blonde hair appeared in front of him.
"Hi! Is George here?" Asked softly,
"He is, yes. I assume your the new neighbor Karl?" The taller man replied.
"That's me, yeah."
"It's nice to meet you. Please, come inside and make yourself comfortable. We rarely have guests over so gogs was really hoping you'd show. I'm Clay by the way." He said sheepishly smiling and reaching his hand out,
"Karl, but you already knew that" He laughed quietly, accepting the hand reaching for him.
That felt nice.
...
Soon, he was in his neighbors apartment with his shoes at the door and was sat across from them on a small, rather simplistic.
The interior was nice. Baby blue accent walls here and there, but the rest were starch white. The furniture and cabnets kept that same white color with gold accents. It was all very cohesive.
"You have a really pretty apartment!" He said continuing to look around a little from where he sat.
"Are the walls baby blue?" He asked shortly after,
"They are, yes. Blue and yellow are the only colors George can really see, so that's why we have stuff colored the same way." Clay said in return, sitting on the matching couch across from him
"Oh, I'm colorblind aswell! Definitely on a lesser scale, but still colorblind."
George popped his head around the corner from what seemed to be a kitchen,
"Karl your here! I just got my tea off the stove, would you like any?" He asked, obviously happy to see his new friend.
"No thank you, I'm still working on my coffee" He said, slightly shaking his cup before taking a sip.
He went back around the corner, but continued his conversation.
"Is that from the Daily Grind?"
"It is, yeah! I really liked it there. Thanks for recommending it."
"Of course! We go there all the time" He said, walking round the corner with 2 mugs in his hands.
He handed a green mug to Clay, and kept the blue one for himself. Soon after this, Clay had an arm resting on the couch behind his smaller fiancé and was taking a long sip of hot tea.
"So, how's the city treating you?" George asked him, taking a small sip from his mug before placing it on the coffee table.
"It's good! I'm not having any trouble with my apartment as of now, and the people here are definitely very nice!" He said laughing,
"I'm glad your liking it! Have you been able to meet any other new people in the area?"
Karl felt his heart beat just a little faster.
"Yeah actually, I met a cute guy at the Daily Grind.."
The brunette perked up at the statement,
Clay however just sighed at his fiancé's behavior."Ooh! Tell me about him!" George quickly said picking up his mug to take another sip.
"I actually got his phone number, but he just told me to call him Sapnap. He's a cashier at the Daily Grind." Karl said, his face a little pink.
"Aww. Ok, but like how cute is he? Like, 1 to 10?" George had asked, already very invested in his new friends story.
"Um" Karl giggled, "I'd say a like an 8 or 9? He has dark hair, and such pretty blue eyes.." he said dreamily, sighing just thinking about the guy.
"Awww. You definitely do have a thing for him."
The man sighed contently and took a small sip of tea.
"I know this is off topic but I was wondering how old you were?" George asked.
"Oh I'm 23."
"Really? And you moved out on your own?"
"Yup. I've been working since I was 15. I finally just wanted to get out of North Carolina, this place was really calling to me."
"Wow. Me and Clay moved here together last year, but we both pay for the apartment. And we actually had savings from our parents for the down payment aswell."
George continued,
"Did you have any help from family? These apartments aren't exactly cheap.." he said lightly laughing,
Clay finally chipped in,
"Gogs, its a little rude to ask-""Oh! It's not a problem. You don't need to worry. But no, I didn't get any help from family. I completely cut contact with my parents when I was moving in with a friend at 18. They got divorced when I was 11, and things just went down hill after that I guess." He muttered, running his hands through his hair.
"Karl I'm so sorry to hear that. I didn't mean to offend you when I asked about them."
George said a little quieter this time. All Clay did was look sympathetically towards him.I"I guess home isn't as homey when your alone" He barely whispered out, tears starting to form in the corner of his eyes.
"Its okay, come here." Though George was shorter then Karl, he got up and opened his arms up to let him in. Karl did hesitate for a second, but once he started to hold onto the boy, he felt so much better
"I don't think anyone's hugged me since I was a kid" He said to no one in particular, half laughing at how pathetic it seemed.
George just squeezed a little tighter.
I didn't take long for Clay to get up as well, and hug a now teary eyed Karl....
After taking 15 minutes to calm down, George was ready to hear the man talk about the cute boy at the coffee shop.
"Ok, but what's he like? What was he saying to you?" George asked, now fully invested.
"He told me I had a cute name, and when he handed me my coffee my fingers got all tingly."
"I felt the same way with him" He laughed putting his head onto his fiancé's shoulder, as they had now returned to the couch.
"I swear you two are already an old married couple " Karl said.
"We might aswell be." Clay quickly replied, putting his head on top his lovers.
