Trudging across the forest where the canopies started becoming less as the atmosphere bathed in early rays of the sun with chirping melodies of various morning birds and squeak of squirrels. It was the end of third Zhis, and Hongyi was closely following Shi Ying who was physically getting tired, was taking few seconds pause but continued with his journey. Hongyi had a frown adorning his forehead. The journey was all quiet except of the sounds of the surrounding natural creatures. Hongyi knew Shi Ying was tired but the stubborn man was forcing himself.
"Shi Zun!" Shi Ying stopped and turned around with a questioning look.
"Shi Zun, its been a Zhis we are walking. We need to rest. Also you might need to channelise-"
"Baili Gounzi, thankyou for your concern but I am not tired if thats what your are worried about."
"My apologises but I, myself, am tired and would like to take a moment to rest and gather strength." Shi Ying nodded and walked to the nearest tree shade. He sat down in lotus position and started channelise his energy. Hongyi too took a seat a bit far from Shi Ying and took out the water pouch to quench his thirst. He kept another pouch he had beside the meditating figure and started looking here and there.
Getting bored for sitting quite a while Hongyi stood up and walked a bit far observing the environment when he recognised a smell of burnt leaves coming from somewhere. Curiousity peaked in him as he followed the smell towards a bigger shade under a big and wild oak tree with its branches spreading wide and far and a small ash debris which seemed to be of dry leaves. He trudged towards the tree and bent down to see the fire was recently put off and there were seating dents on the bay of leaves. He was observing things more carefully when.
"Gounzi." Hongyi turned back a bit taken as there stood Shi Ying with one hand folded back and other holding the umbrella. Usually he is able to hear or recognise foot steps towards him but this grand priest seemed more careful.
"Shi Zun!"
"You shouldn't trudge out when you are not familiar with the place. Also a big war has subsided, you shouldn't be careless and should always put on your guards." Hongyi nodded.
"Apologies. I will be more careful. Also this place seems suspicious. Here-"
"This place is dangerous. The enemies might have stayed here. It can be allias too but cannot be sure for the same. By the next Zhis the heat of the sun would be at peak. The scroaching heat might tire you more so if you don't mind lets continue. By the next mid Zhis, we would be near the scarce location of the tribe."
"Ofcourse but let me bring my things."
"No need." Shi Ying brought his hand which was folded back in the front which revealed a clothed bundle which Hongyi always carried.
"Gounzi shall we continue?" Shi Ying asked as he gave the man his possession back who nodded in return and both trudged towards the path to the nearest tribe.
After half a zhis, Hongyi was able to find few people with most men with red cloak while women in red shawl. He understood that it might be the signature dress of the tribe. They walked more to see a proper habitat of people and children all around. What intriguied Hongyi was the smell of various herbs and some wierd smell too which he assumed to be of the potions which he saw one man brewing as they were crossing. After coming to a manor which seemed biggest in the whole tribe, Shi Ying turned around with his blank demeanor wanting to speak something but seemed to be hesitant.
"Shi Zun if you have something to speak about, please don't refrain from speaking."
"Gounzi, things here might be difficult as you might have seen coming here. The condition here is of post war and people here all preparing medicinal herbs and potions. What I want to say is that you should always be on guard because any sudden attack may occur." Shi Ying completed and Hongyi tightened his lips. He very well knows how he is incapable of saving himself without any knowledge of martial arts. He always had his companion to save him throughout his life but now in this desperate time, he is all for himself. He regreted not learning few tricks from Da Sa Ming.
