Disappointment

The next few hours were almost a blur to Azusa. He never left Ruki's bedside, holding his hand softly, and begging him silently to wake up. Kou had tried, fruitlessly, to pull the vampire away to rest himself, but he wouldn't move. This was his fault. He knew it, and now he needed to make it up. He wanted to apologize to Ruki over and over, and beg for his forgiveness. The fact that the other's eyes wouldn't open was driving Azusa mad, and the feeling of hot tears spilling down his cheeks became normal to him. He would feel the familiar burning, and just allow the tears to fall. There was no point in stopping them. Azusa was dozing on the bed, his fingers still entwined with Ruki's when he heard a soft groan. Azusa jolted back up, glancing at the other vampire hopefully. He almost gave a cheer when he saw the elder vampire's eyes start to twitch, as they fluttered open.
"Ruki!" Azusa cried happily, relief filling his chest. Ruki glanced at him groggily. "Azusa? "
Clearly, he was still a little foggy from waking up. The fog only lasted a moment, as he gave a gasp and sat up quickly.

"Azusa! Are you hurt?! Where are the others? Are they okay? " Ruki's voice was frantic, and as he spoke he took his hand out of Azusa's to examine the other's face.
"No... Ruki, We are all... Okay... " Azusa practically choked the words out. He wanted to thank Ruki for saving him, but the words wouldn't come out. His throat was tight, and more tears were threatening to spill over at the sheer relief that he was able to talk to the other vampire at all. Ruki let out a relieved sigh, releasing Azusa's face. "I'll... Go get... The others... " Azusa murmured, rising from his chair. Ruki didn't say anything, allowing his head to fall against the pillow. Azusa walked down the stairs, seeing Kou and Yuma sitting in the living area. Azusa was going to call out to them, but stopped when he heard them talking.
"Jeez... Why did things turn out so awful? " Kou asked somberly, threading his slender fingers through his blonde hair.
"I don't know. They were clearly looking for something. But we didn't have it. Stupid bastards came to the wrong damn house. Roughed us up and then just left. It's so infuriating. " Yuma replied, a bit of anger seeping into his voice. Kou gave a soft sigh, moving his hand. "Dumbasses. I can't believe that they did that to Ruki. And Azusa.. " At the mention of his name, Azusa stiffened.
".. Yeah.. I've never seen him so.. Emotional. " Yuma mused worriedly.
"Yeah... But my biggest concern is.. The cutting he's been doing. Like, I knew he was doing it, we all did, but Yuma, his arm... It was absolutely covered in scars, up to his shoulder. And that was just one of his arms. " Azusa chewed his lip guilty, one of his hands gripping his arm unconsciously. The bandages that Kou had wrapped so tenderly around his arm were soft to the touch. Even so, his wounds burned. Deciding that he could no longer stand the disappointment in the other voice, Azusa decided to make his presence known.
"Kou... Yuma.. Ruki is... Up.. "
He said softly, walking down the stairs so the others could see him. Kou's eyes lit up at the news, and he practically jumped up from his seat.
"Really?! That's great! Yuma, let's go see him! "
Without waiting for a reply from Yuma, despite addressing him, the blonde took off up the stairs. Yuma followed him, giving Azusa a gentle smile as he passed by him. Azusa joined his brothers upstairs, trying to ignore the words he had heard. Ruki smiled weakly as his brothers entered the room. Kou ran to his bedside and wrapped him in a hug, careful of the wound on the other vampire's chest. Ruki patted the other's back.
"Ruki! Dude, I'm so glad you're okay!"  Kou chirped happily.

Ruki didn't reply, gently pushing the younger vampire away. Kou's eyes flashed with confusion for a moment, but only a moment, as he simply stepped away.  He seemed to respect his brother's need for personal space. Ruki sat up in the bed, despite Yuma's disapproving grunts.

"I'm alright. Even so, We need to discuss why it happened." Ruki's voice was gentle. Kou sighed, sitting cross-legged on the floor.

"Yuma said that they were looking for something. It certainly seemed like it. They tore up our house. "

As he spoke, Kou's hands gripped his legs angirly.

"Yes, but if that was the case, Why the hell did they attack Azusa? There wouldn't have been a good reason."  Yuma countered, dragging his hand along the back of his neck in frustration.

"Nothing makes any damn sense." Kou growled lowly.

Azusa sighed, fiddling with the bandages on his arms. He didn't know what was going on either. Ruki was quiet for a moment, lost in thought, before he spoke again.

"There is something I need to tell all of you."  His eyes glistened with something unreadable, and a pit began to grow in Azusa's stomach. He held his arm tight against his chest.   What was Ruki talking about? They didn't usually keep things from each other. They were close enough not to keep secrets, or so Azusa thought. Kou leaned forward curiously, and Yuma raised an eyebrow in confusion.

" I have been trying to become Adam."
