Desperately, Azusa caught Ruki in his arms tears welling up in his eyes. Ruki groaned, eyes shutting tightly.
"Ruki! " Azusa cried, desperately. The older vampire didn't respond, seeming to slip into unconsciousness. The tears spilled from his eyes as he dropped to the ground, still holding his older brother protectivly. Anxiety enveloped his body. Ruki was badly injured and it was his fault. He wanted to scream but no noise rose from his throat. He was frozen, in disbelief and fear. The wolf snarled at him, and looked like it was going to attack again, but Kou's white boot crashed into it's face as he landed beside Azusa. "Azusa, take Ruki and run! These mangy mutts seem to be looking for something and we are just in the way. " He said gently, but Azusa could hear the slight shake in the other vampire's voice. He was scared too.
"But.. Kou... You...could get hurt... And I.. " Azusa started but Kou cut him off, almost desperately. "No. Azusa, Yuma and I can protect ourselves! Ruki is hurt and we need you to get him somewhere safe. Yuma and I are counting on you man! " Before Azusa could protest anymore, the wolf jumped at Kou and the elder vampire had to jump back. Azusa moved Ruki so that he was on his back, supporting his legs with his bandaged arms. With no other choice, he fled up the stairs, hoping to whatever god there was that Kou had been right. If the wolves were looking for something, attacking them wasn't their priority. Whatever they were looking for was. As he moved the elder vampire to a bed, he finally felt the hot tears staining his cheeks. He had been so stupid. Standing there like an idiot. He had accepted his fate so easily; so readily. What did he have to live for? He was just a constant burden to his brothers and pain was the only thing that truly made sense to him. He didnt deserve to still be alive, sitting at Ruki's side, crying his eyes out. Yet; here he was. Before Azusa could wallow in his self-pity much longer, the door to the room slammed open. Kou came running in , Yuma right behind him. They were scratched up, some areas bloodied, but they seemed to be mostly okay, to Azusa's relief. "Shit man! " Yuma cried, running to the bathroom to get some bandages to wrap Ruki's wound. Kou came up beside Azusa helping Yuma the best ways he could.
"I--I'm.... sorry... " Azusa blurted out.
Kou looked at Yuma , and the other male's eyes softened a little. He nodded at the blonde. Kou walked over to Azusa, who had tears spilling down his face. Without a word, the blonde pulled the other into a warm embrace. Azusa tried to pull away not feeling that he deserved the affection, but Kou"s grip was tight.
"Look Azusa.. This wasn't your fault. Ruki did what he did to protect you."
"Why... Protect me?"
"Because you're just as important to us as we are to you. "
Azusa clung to the other desperately, his tears staining Kou's ripped clothes. Kou just held him, as he sobbed, ugly sounds ripping from the masochistic vampire's throat.Azusa wasn't sure how much time had passed before Kou pulled away. The blonde immediately grabbed Azusa's arm. Only when fire spread through his limb did Azusa realize that there was a gash on it. He went to pull it away, but once again, Kou's grip was too tight. "Hold on dude. I gotta patch that up. "
"But.... Ruki is more hurt.. He is... Because of me.. I deserve--"
Before Azusa could finish, Kou's finger was on his lips. His right eye flashed a stunning red, like a Ruby glistening in the sunlight.
"Don't you dare finish that sentence. You don't deserve that wound. " Azusa didn't reply, shocked, as the blonde began unwrapping his blood-stained bandages. Azusa wanted to rip his arm away from the other, knowing that he wasn't going to like what he saw. He heard Kou give a soft gasp, the red fading from his eye as he stared at Azusa's arm. Aside from the fresh gash, it was littered with scars. They went all the way up the younger vampire's arm. "Azusa.. I knew you cut.. But.. This much?... " Kou's voice was strained. Azusa avoided his eyes, violet eyes falling to the ground. "It... Feels good... " he murmured. Kou sighed, and bit his lip, but didn't keep pressing, as he rebandaged Azusa's arm. Nonetheless, his disappointment was evident in his eyes, no matter how much he tried to hide it.
Why was that look of disappointment causing such a pit in Azusa's stomach?
