Alice slipped on her Jaded London low waisted jeans and a lace tank top and paired it with her pink Jordans. Alice was the type of person to wear something no more than a couple times so then she could sell it on Depop. Her account was full of followers, she got complimented by her style on a daily basis to her she felt like that was the only thing keeping her sane. She loved change and vibed with new aesthetics, styling was her future.
She met up with Amelia at Cafe Lounge ordering their usual drink order."What did you do last night?" Alice asked while she sipped her coffee.
"Honestly you're gonna hate me...Brad came over." Amelia sighed and scrunched her nose in an amusing way.
Alice was ready for what was about to be said "Stop, are you serious? What happened?"
"Oh you know how it is... he came over we had an argument about the whole night, he said He brought her to make me jealous.. we made up.. like really made up if you know what I mean..." She giggled and her face went red so fast.
"Omg stop you're insane!" Alice hit her light heartedly on the arm. Being friends with Amelia made things exciting for her. There was always something new, it was very different to her old school friends.
They both walked at a slow pace to school, they turned up ten minutes late. Getting to the office with the late note, they both went to their first period of English. Shakespeare was always a drag, Amelia actually found it interesting and Alice not so much. She would switch between her screens scrolling through Pinterest and also having work on a document so it would look like she was doing something. Mrs Hutton was not impressed by their lateness, she made them stay back after class, giving them a paper to finish by tomorrow. Alice was used to this but then again they both did it to themselves.
After their talk with Mrs Hutton, Amelia had skipped up to Brad and after all that they were together linking arms, smitten with each other.Alice glanced down the hallway at Connor. Connor and Alice were best friends, Alice had a soft spot for Connor. He knew deep down she did although he never wanted to ruin the one girl in his life that was important to him. They were just friends, losing that friendship because of mixed feelings would be a waste he thought. He found her attractive she was the kind of girl you'd want to marry settle down with, but he wasn't willing to take that step like he did with other girls. Maybe if another guy was in the picture pursuing her he imagined, just that image of Alice with someone else kind of messed up his head a bit, was it jealousy?
"Hey.. how was English? Get another paper?" He thought it was so funny how Alice had a side to her, a side of sass.
"Stop.. you know it's a bore. I've got to get good grades this Semester otherwise my dad will fume."
"I can tutor you for English, at least it won't be so much of a bore" he chuckled whilst putting just one arm around Alice and gave her a little squeeze. She appreciated it and loved when he gave her that kind of attention. He would treat other girls differently, but with Alice he worshipped the ground she walked on. Girls would be so jealous of that cause he would just have meaningless flings and would forget about them the next day. But with Alice he was constantly checking up on her and gave her that kind of attention every girl wished for. But wouldn't make a move, for Alice it was very confusing she thought am I that ugly?
They walked to the cafeteria and met up with Amelia and Brad. They sat in their usual spot in the middle. Other kids in their year came up every lunch time, they were popular everyone could see that. The type of group that you would actually be able to have a random conversation with and wouldn't be judged. They always made friends with new people and were so welcoming, people would come and go to sit with them.
A ringtone went off and Amelia answered the phone. "Are you serious...omg... thank god... see you soon." She hung up and glanced up at the rest of them. Amelia had a genuine smile. "It was Jake-he's coming back at the end of the week."Alice's face went blank, she didn't know what to do. She never thought he was coming back not after what happened last summer. She fell into a silence everyone's voices mumbled in the background, her mind was elsewhere she couldn't tell Amelia...it would ruin her.
"Hey you alright?" He said softly in her ear.
Alice nodded and faked a smile "yeah-yeah I'm just gonna to the library, get on that paper I'll catch up with you guys later."
Amelia hadn't noticed but Connor did he always knew when she wasn't herself. Brad was in his own world, leaning back in his chair with a toothpick sitting in his mouth.
She knew this might be the one thing that could tear their friendship apart, she rehearsed it over and over in her head. She couldn't keep it in any longer.Leave a comment on who Connor should look like for the story!
