The library was two stories, filled with the collection of books that Alice had spent her spare time reading when she wanted to disappear from the crowded bodies of the school. Alice and Wonderland she grabbed it, how typical. The endless amounts of reading she had spent on this novel, she could read it over and over when she wanted to distract herself from all the noise in her head.

Would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?

Minutes were going by fast before she knew it, the bell went off and startled her. She gathered her things and headed to History. Dozing off in her seat, she suddenly felt tired and felt her eyes flickering slowly to sleep.

Connor walked past the classrooms as he headed to the bathrooms, looking through the windows of the students sitting in their subjects and saw Alice in her seat. He saw the worry and drowned look on her face he didn't understand at lunch why she was quick to leave. He was going to catch up with her after class, didn't matter what else was happening at the time he had to make sure she was okay. As Connor left the bathroom he bumped into someone as he looked up he saw his hair in a mess and whole body on edge.

It was Chris. "Hey man, you g?"

"Yeah-yeah I'm alright." Chris said in an unconvincing tone.

"What's got you all flustered? You don't seem like yourself." Connor knew Chris wasn't himself but he wouldn't put it past him if it had something to do with Amelia. He must've seen Brad and her together today.

"Ahh nothing, see you later." Cutting the conversation short before it even started, he headed to the guys toilets.

Connor could actually deal with Chris unlike Brad. He and Chris grew up together ever since they were kids, so he was quite protective of him. Overtime they drifted. Especially in high school as Connor became friends Brad, so it seemed fitting that Chris didn't wanted to hang out in the circle all the time.
The bell rang, it was end the of school. Connor saw Alice walking his direction with her head down dragging her feet in the hallway. He tapped her shoulder and lifted her chin with his gentle fingertips. Her eyes were holding back tears he didn't want to say the wrong thing so he linked arms with her, bopped his head gently on hers and they walked in silence. She didn't need much, just someone to notice or acknowledge that she was perhaps upset. Alice and Connor went to Stonewall Park, stopped by Cafe Lounge and sat down for a coffee. He ordered her strawberries and chocolate waffles not to her knowledge. He sat down and held his hand out to hers and she placed hers on top of his. Her hands were shaking he knew she suffered with anxiety, especially at her old school.

"Something is wrong and whatever it is I just want you to know, you can tell me."

Alice shook her head "you wouldn't understand, it's just complicated. Let's change the subject I need a distraction."

She moved her hands out of his in a fast motion and sipped her cold brew. The waitress turned up with the waffles and Alice had a confusing look. Connor exchanged a smirk, "They're for you obviously."

Alice blushed, "You didn't have to." Thanking him for his gesture. They started chatting about Amelia and Brad. Then he told her about Chris and how he was acting off.
"It has to be because of Amelia and Brad, I feel bad for Chris in a way." Alice said in a saddened tone.

"I know but you know how Amelia is, if she's not with Brad she's toying with Chris and he falls for it." Connor raised his eyebrow waiting for her to agree with him. In a way Connor saw the way that their love triangle had been over the years and seeing that turned him having to deal with anything like that for Alice and himself.

"Cmon, I'll walk you home." They grabbed their things and left.

Later that night, she showered, placed her pink fluffy hair towel and sat on her bed in her robe. She was exhausted from the entire day and as she placed her phone on the charger her phone lit up and buzzed. It was a text. A text she was waiting for but when she didn't know.

Hey it's Jake, I'm coming back this week & I'm hoping to see you x

What was happening? She wasn't going to reply as of right now anyway. Things were settling down and Alice has begun thinking of the time she saw him and what entailed. Although she couldn't help but think of herself and how he made her feel. Then she thought of Amelia and it had gotten to a point where she knew the conversation had to be had with Jake first. She waited and contemplated when to message him and what she'll say, so she left it and turned her phone off so she wouldn't be tempted.

For character Chris what vibe does he give in terms of looks, let me know in the comments ;)
*bit of a short chapter filler bare with me x
