Liar

2 - The Jenna Thing

All five girls sat at a table at the Apple Rose Grille.

"Why was Jenna there?" Aria asked.

"I guess she's back." Spencer said.

"That cop acted like we were suspects or something." Hanna said.

"Do you think we looked guilty?" Emily asked.

"Why would we? We haven't done anything wrong." Katherine said.

"You're always doing something wrong, Kat." Spencer whispered to her.

"Except, lie about the Jenna thing." Hanna said.

"We promised we'd never bring up the Jenna thing again. Remember? It never happened." Spencer said.

"Have you found a way to forget? I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night-" Aria started.

"Aria, it was an accident." Katherine said, cutting her off.

Emily looked down at her bracelet as Hanna and Katherine both pulled out flasks and poured the booze in their drinks.

"It's medicinal." Hanna said to an old man that was staring at them.

"Cramps." Katherine said, pointing to her vagina to signal it was related to her period. He looked away instantly, getting nervous at how open the girl was.

"I don't get it. How does A know something about me that only Alison knew." Emily said.

"Ali knew all of our secrets, but we didn't know any of hers." Aria said.

"I knew some." Spencer said.

"Me too." Katherine said.

The other three girls snapped their attention to them.

"Go on." Aria said.

"Talk." Hanna said.

"I can't." Spencer said.

"Spence, you are not going to drop a bomb like that and clam up. You too, Kat." Aria said.

"She'd so kill me if I told you." Spencer said.

"She's dead." Hanna said bluntly.

"Ali was seeing someone that summer." Spencer admitted.

"I knew she was keeping something from me. From us." Emily said, more to herself than the group.

"Why didn't she want us to know?" Aria asked.

"He was an older boy. And he had a girlfriend." Spencer said.

"He had a girlfriend, alright." Katherine said.

"Who was it?" Emily asked.

"Can we at least have initials?" Hanna asked.

"She never told me his name." Spencer said.

"That's only half a secret." Hanna said. "Did she tell you, Kat?"

"It's more than you ever got from her." Spencer said quietly.

"Yeah." Katherine said.

"Tell us!" The four girls said.

"I really can't." Katherine said. "He'd kill me."

"How was it that Alison told us nothing and we told her everything?" Aria said.

"She made us feel like we were a part of something special." Emily said.

"We were." Katherine said.
