When I woke up, I had a pounding headache. Before everything went to shit, my headaches and migraines would come more often than never. Cass suggested to go see a doctor, but I refused. I dealt with them as they came. Nothing new.

We ditched the fire truck about a couple miles back. We all took a bathroom break but Murphy refused to take one. I already knew where this was going. We were going to get a couple miles ahead and Murphy was gonna have to stop. And just like I called it, he had us stop.

Charlie stopped and had Addy check for any Zs. When the cost was clear, Murphy got out and used the bathroom. He wasn't looking to good. He had bald spots, his skin looked decomposed, and he was more snapping than usually. I rolled my rolls when he made any of his smart-ass comments. It's Murphy, what more can you do?

We were all sitting and waiting for Murphy. Some were watching and some were just talking. Doc redid my bandage around my knee. It wasn't getting worse but it wasn't getting any better. I could careless, but Doc seemed concerned. I smiled a reassuring smile towards Doc. And he smiled back. Today just wasn't my day. To be honest, it's never my day.

"Anyone else worried about Mr. Sunshine out there," Doc asked once he was done with my knee

"Yeah. He's looking worse," Charlie agreed standing close to Warren

"He was pretty creepy to start with," Warren laughed as I sent a glare towards her

"Come on guys, give him a break," I said causing them to look a me

I rolled my eyes as Addy finished my statement, "it's the apocalypse. No one looks their best. It's like a never ending bad hair day."

I laughed as I leaned against 10k. I felt his hand go to my back for comfort. I smiled and turned my attention back to the group.

"What's with the bald spots?" 10k asked

I could tell 10k never liked Murphy. Knowing Murphy he probably said something to 10k being an asshole. That wasn't an uncommon thing for Murphy to do.

"Maybe the vaccine is like zombie cemo," Cass suggested

"Maybe the vaccine isn't working," 10k suggested causing me to roll my eyes at him

I sighed and turned to Doc, "hey Doc. What's your opinion on this."

"I think Zs look better than him," Doc answered with the answer I didn't want

"Will he make it to California at least," I asked, hiding the sadness and desperation in my voice

"We hope," Doc answered not wanting to make me more upset

Throwing my head back in angry, I blocked all other conversations they were having. I was tired of this. Why when I get close to someone they always die? When Murphy was done with his business, we all started to situated in the truck.

"I could really use some ribs right about now!" Doc laughed

"Me too Doc," I agreed sitting on the edge of the truck

After Warren and Charlie stopped flirting with each other, Warren started to drive again. We passed a Z holding the held of another Z. 10k aimed his gun and shot the Z head and shot the other one as we passed.
