3rd Person's POV
Riza was in a patient's room, checking their wounds and redoing their bandages.
"You're healing up nicely! By next week you should be able to go home!" She announced to the patient who was thrilled to hear the news. She finished up in that room and left holding a tray of bloodied bandages when she came across a familiar face. The man was of average height, a bit scrawny and he wore white with a clipboard in his right hand. Upon seeing the man, she stopped in her tracks and slightly bowed to him.
"Doctor..." She acknowledged him"Ah...Riza, it's strange seeing you act this way. Since you broke off our engagement, seeing you have been rare. I wonder... what have you been up to?" He questioned coming closer to the woman who was now standing straight.
"You've been with another man, haven't you? You whore!""Doctor, I suggest we keep things professional." She stated before bowing again and walking off
"Who is he?! How is he better than me?! Riza!" The man grabbed her hand and pulled her back, knocking over the tray she held.
"What are you doing?! Let go of me!" The woman tried pulling her hand away from him but his grip on her wrist only tightened causing the woman to cry out in pain. The doctor stayed like that for what seemed like to be hours but released her when he heard footsteps and walked away leaving Riza standing in the middle of the hallway cradling her hand that was in his grasp, seeing that there was a prominent red ring around the entire wrist. Still shaken up, the woman dropped to her knees and gathered the tray and used bandages that fell to the ground. After she carried the tray to its destination, she signed out early and went home.
"Why are you home so early? Did something happen?" An elderly woman who was bent over, rooting out the weeds at the front of the house asked.
"It's nothing mom, I'm just tired." Then she headed inside to her room then to the bath. She sat on the wooden stool, near a large tub and watched her bruised hand as her mind thought back to the events that happened early. It was such a terrifying situation. To be trapped like a mere insect in a spider's web. What would've happened if he hadn't heard those footsteps? He was being so aggressive. Riza threw some water onto her body in attempts to wash away the bad thoughts, then stepped into the tub. After her bath, she threw herself unto her bed and before she knew it, she fell asleep.
"-za! Riza wake up!" She heard her mother's voice through her dreams.
"The stone pillar is here to see you get up!" Upon hearing "stone pillar" She quickly sat up and rubbed the sleep out her eyes. She scrambled to her feet and threw on a kimono and neated her long black hair then practically ran out of her room to where Himejima was."Ah... Gyomei, what are you doing here?" She asked nervously when she saw the man sitting next to her father wearing a hakama, rolling his red beads.
"I wanted to talk to you for a minute." He said then stood up then walked outside, followed by the girl. Once outside and a little way from the house, he spun around and embraced his lover.
"Earlier I visited the hospital and you weren't there. Did something happen?" He questioned with tears streaming down his face. Riza tugged onto his clothing, giving him a sign that she wanted to be held and he did her request and lifted her. She whipped the tears from his eyes then cupped his face.
