My fingertips across your skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images.

Alex shivered as she remembered her finger softly grazed Piper's sensitive skin. The summer breeze blowing in through the open balcony doors of the hotel they were staying at in Mexico. The sound of the rustling palm trees that lined the coast, swaying gently with the soft breeze.

I sang you spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in my eyes
Clever trick.

Tears stung in her eyes as she remembered when she gently picking up a guitar and singing softly to Piper. Alex had picked up spanish and could speak it fluently now. She sung to Piper every night of their stay and each night was a different song. Alex always had a loving look in her eyes and each day it only grew more intense.

I never wanna see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Alex did her best to keep Piper happy. And she was. At first. Then she began to find any excuse to get mad. The fights were completely irrational. Alex became angered but would always hold back knowing that she didn't want to mess up the only serious relationship she had.

Goodbye my almost lover
Goodbye my hopeless dream

When the fighting became to much to handle, Piper walked out. After claiming to be a team, Piper just packed her bags and left. Without a second glance she grabbed her bags and left, leaving Alex stunned without being able to form any words.

I'm trying not to think about you
Please can't you just let me be?

It had been 3 years since then, and her heart still ached for the blonde girl. Alex whipped her eyes to stop her tears from ruining her winged eyeliner. But new tears sprung when she remembered how a week ago Piper had suddenly appeared again and wanted to try again.

So long my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

She didn't even bother to look at the girl. She didn't want to. She couldn't take it. She knew if she did, she would break down and run into her arms. Alex clutched at her chest at the pain, not only emotional but also physical. It physically hurt her to be away from the girl.

We walked along a crowded street
I took your hand and danced with you
Images

Alex remembered the many times they went into the shops and there was small bands playing in the street. When they heard something fun sounding, they always danced, even though they looked like complete tourists for doing so. It was their thing. Many people stared sure, but they were in their own world.

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you're gone and I'm haunted
And I bet you are just fine
Did I make it that easy
To walk right in and out of my life?

She couldn't even go to the beach anymore because she would remember strolling down the coastline with her arms around the blondes waist. Driving at night was always a pain. After all the tears of every night, her eyes would hurt with her glasses but she couldn't see without them. In the mornings she would wish she didn't have to wake up. She wished she wouldn't wake up at all sometimes. She was better of dead anyway. She could never shake the feeling that Piper was just fine with all of this and it made the pain worsen. She didn't know what she did to Piper for her to walk out of her life. Did she do something wrong? Did she mess up somehow? How could she fix it now? There was one answer. She couldn't.

And when you left you kissed my lips
You told me you'd never ever forget these images

When Piper left she had promised she would never forget her. She promised she would always remember the good times and love her for eternity. But Alex knew it wasn't true. Especially now that she held a newspaper article that bore the headline "Piper Chapman soon to be married to Larry Bloom". This was goodbye, not only to a woman that brought her so much happiness but to the only love of her life.

I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

And that's when she remembered the first rule of the lesbian handbook.

Never fall in love with a straight girl.
