(For those who don't know this is part 2 of The Love of Her Life)
I say that I don't care what you're doing
But I always ask our friends about youPiper ran out, chasing the black haired girl through the cold, drizzling weather, winding through the sea of people.
"Alex!" She called out, trying to get the attention of the other girl. Alex visibly faulted but continued to walk after a second or two. "Alex please!" Piper could see the group of people ending but a guy managed to accidentally snag her jacket and Piper stumbled down.
"Watch it bitch." The man slurred, obviously drunk as his girlfriend helped him walk.
"S-sorry." Piper sat up, looking at her scraped knee. She looked in the direction Alex had gone off in and noticed she was gone. She sighed to herself and looked back at her knee and blew some air at the wound, flinching. She felt someone behind her but before she could look, a pair of hands went under her arms and lifted her into a standing position. The smell hit Piper like a ton of bricks. Ocean breeze, still enough to make her knees buckle. The same hands dusted her off, then left her body completely as she heard the clicking of Alex's boots against the sidewalk, the streets being eerily quiet and empty. "A-Alex?" Alex turned, her green eyes looking extra green in the moonlight, the black frame of her glasses making them pop.
"You're welcome kid." She shoved her hands into the pockets of her black leather jacket and turned forward again, walking slowly.
"Can we please talk? I know that I've always said I don't care.... But I seriously do. That's why I always ask how you're doing. That's why THEY always ask you how you're doing and I'm sorry, it should've been me asking." Alex turned around but stayed looking down at her boots, unable to look her in the eyes.
"Pipes, it doesn't matter. You don't care, I don't care. It's that simple." Alex tried to dismiss the topic rapidly before she started crying.
You say that you don't care if I'm dead or alive
But you know damn well you can't live without me"See but that's where I was wrong. I do care. Just like I know you care too. I know you can't live without me." Piper said softly, Alex scoffed and turned her head away.
"A little modesty never killed anyone." She growled softly.
"You know it's true. Just like I can't live without you. I haven't been okay since I lost you. This that you see, this face, that smile, everything, it's fake. It's fake and I can't hold it anymore." Piper started tearing up.
We tried forgetting each other without result
And I know you're thinking to yourself the same thing"I don't know if it's the same for you, but I can't forget you. No matter how hard I try, I can't stop opening my eyes every morning and wishing to see you next to me in my bed." Alex looked up slightly and saw as tears began to pour down Piper's cheeks. She looked up fully and locked eyes with the blonde. She took in a sharp breath before tearing up herself, trying to look around to stop her tears.
We still had a million kisses to give each other
I'm so sure
That we're still in love but our ego
Doesn't want us to accept it"I still have so much I want to give you Alex. Please. Don't just disappear again. Please just accept the fact that we still love each other. Please." Alex eyes snapped back to Piper, widening.
'Does she really still love me?' Alex thought to herself, looking into her beautiful blue eyes. She shook her head, trying to stop a smile that wanted to surface.
I honestly can't understand at what game we're playing
I can swear that you're missing me
Stop trying to be strong
Come into my arms"Why do you think I hired that guy that talked to you in the bar? Because I needed to know how you truly felt. Because you would never tell one of our friends that. Because you would never tell me that even if I ever asked you myself."
"So.. You really do love me?...." Piper nodded softly, a small sob making her chest jump slightly as she held it in. Alex walked forward within reach and reached for her hand.
Why did we break up?
If you know damn well
That we need each other"Oh Pipes, why did we ever break up? I need you too much." Alex moved forward, cupping Piper's cheeks rubbing her thumbs under Piper's eyes, removing the makeup to show the deep bruise like bags under her eyes from lack of sleep. Small tears fell onto Alex's cheeks as she leaned forward and pressed her lips into her.
