Chapter 1: Cinder

It was around midnight when the airship dropped us off at Beacon. I was exhausted. I only brought along Neo, Emerald, and Mercury with me. And I had changed my weapon into a pair of nunchucks that can use dust. Watts and everyone else were instructed to stay where they were at the Land of Darkness, except Roman, who was currently working along side the White Fang.

"I'm so tired. Can't we just stay in one of the dorms here? It'll be more convenient," Emerald said.

Mercury rubbed his eyes. "And I'm about to pass out."

Neo yawned and strapped her parasol to her back.

"I'm sure Ozpin will allow us to stay in one," I told them. "He said we could if we wanted."

No one said a word as we entered the school. Ozpin was nowhere to be seen as various students were walking around. I walked up to the assistant desk. The young assistant looked up at me quickly.

"Ah, hello there," she greeted me. "How can I help you today?"

I smiled. "Actually, I was hoping that our team could stay in one of the dorms here. Professor Ozpin said that we could."

The assistant smiled. "Of course. What is your team name again?"

"CMSN (crimson)," I said.

I watched as the assistant typed something into the computer and click around a few times.

"There's a dorm room available to the left of team RWBY (ruby). Would that work for you, ma'am?"

I nodded. "That would be perfect. Thank you."

She smiled as she handed me a keycard. "Here you are. It is late, so I'd rest up for your classes tomorrow. The school will email you sometime tonight to let you more details about your class schedule. Have a nice evening!"

I took the keycard and slipped it into my pocket before walking back to everyone.

I took out the keycard. "Guess who are neighbors are going to be?"

Mercury rolled his eyes. "Team RWBY?"

I grinned. "Yes. This is perfect. It'll be easier to keep an eye on them that way. ...In case they decide to interfere with our plans."

Emerald yawned. "Cool. Can we go rest now?"

I nodded, and led them down a long hallway where all the dorms were. We continued to keep walking until I collided with someone. I stumbled back and was caught by Emerald. As I got to my feet, I heard her snap at the person who had bumped into me.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!"

"I'm really sorry! I guess I wasn't paying attention!" a familiar voice cried.

I looked down a little to see Ruby in front of me. She was on the ground, trying to gather her things. I held my hand out to her. After a little bit, she took it and stood to her feet.

"Thanks! I'm Ruby! What's your name?" she asked.

"Cinder," I said, smiled at her, and gestured to my teammates. "These are my teammates, Mercury, Emerald, and Neo. We're known as team CMSN."

"Team... CMSN? Cool! I see you guys wearing Haven uniforms. So you're from Haven Academy then?"

"Yes. But we couldn't wait to see the Vytal Festival being held here. So we just had to stay for a bit. Actually, our dorm is next to yours to the left. Would you mind leading us there?" I asked Ruby.
