"What?" Spencer asks as he looks down, smirking at Olivia.

"So...does this mean..."

"Liv, you really gotta ask?"

They're sitting on the James' couch. Spencer's hand is wrapped around her shoulder as he lazily plays with the ends of her hair. Olivia is resting lightly on his chest while she plays with her hands between their laps, nervous to even be asking this question out loud.

"Well, I just don't want to assume...you know, we've been through a lot Spencer...I just want to make sure we're thinking the same thing..."

Without hesitation, Spencer shifts in his seat forcing Olivia to look up at him. He smiles at her softly but as he's about to give her a playful answer, she looks back down and he realizes how serious she's being. He lets her hair fall out of his hands and gives her a soft squeeze before moving his arm away from her, then grabbing both of her hands in his. The intensity of the moment is not lost on either of them.

Spencer squeezes her hand in an attempt to have her look at her again but she lowers her gaze, hiding behind her hair this time, clearly on edge about what he's about to say.

"Liv...Olivia...just look at me."

"Spencer...I'm scared."

"And you don't think I am? Girl, I don't want to mess this up. I ain't about to lose my best friend." He says it with such certainty, trying to catch her eyes so she knows he means it. She can't help but smile hearing that from him. With everything that's happened with Layla, and hell even Jordan, in the past couple of years, having someone - having him - call her their "best friend," their favorite person and truly mean it, does not fall on deaf ears.

She finally looks up. "I...I don't want to mess this up either, Spencer." It barely comes out in a whisper.

"Then, let's not. I want this...us. I have for a long time, Liv. Let me make myself clear. I meant it when I said it was time for us to have our chance at happiness, and being with you...saying yes to this...well, it's the start of something special..."

Olivia smiles softly, slightly overwhelmed by her emotions and getting teary eyed. "Spencer James, for a boy from South Crenshaw, you are such a sap."

"Olivia Baker, I will only speak to you in poetry if it makes you happy."

Somehow, she knows he means it. With their hands still intertwined, Olivia leans over to kiss Spencer on the cheek. Then, she looks down at his lips. Spencer catches her glance and meets her halfway, slowly licking his lips. Olivia laughs lightly as her forehead reaches his. "I don't know that I'll ever get used to just being able to kiss you whenever I want."

He closes the space between them and kisses her softly. "I am not sure that I'll ever get used to you wanting to kiss me." They kiss again, this time letting go of each other's hands. Spencer brings Olivia slightly closer to him as she bends her knee so she can create less space between them and get more comfortable on the couch. Her hands travel to her favorite new place, the back of his neck, as she kisses him all over his face.

"Spencer, I am not sure that wanting to kiss you has ever been the issue." She pulls back instantly, shocking Spencer as he was about to grab her face for another kiss. "Wait, you still didn't answer the question!"

"Are you serious, Liv? Do we really have to do this whole thing?"

"Yes, Spencer! I am...and yes, you do!"

Spencer rolls his eyes at her as he smiles and shakes his head. "Is this what I have to look forward to?" She raises her eyebrow at him and he knows she won't budge.

"Fine." He clears his throat and takes her hands again. "Olivia Baker, will you be my girlfriend?"

"What? No note passing that says 'yes,' 'no,' or 'maybe'?"

"No because I swear if you say anything other than yes, I am kicking you out of this house." They both fall into laughter.

"Of course, Spencer. I am proud to be yours. Now, order me some food please. I am starving. I worked up an appetite gathering the energy to come over tonight."

Spencer laughs for the millionth time that night. She was going to be the death of him. "Lucky for you, my mom left some Mac and Cheese in the fridge. I'll heat it up; you pick a show?"

Olivia squealed, reaching over him to grab the remote before he even finished his sentence. "Yes, please."

He tapped the couch gently and got up, turning back to kiss her on the forehead before walking towards the kitchen. Olivia slightly pushed him out of the way. "Okay, you're cute but move...you're blocking the TV!"

Spencer shoots her a look and quickly grabs the remote from her, lifting it above his head as she jumps up to grab it. She fights him for awhile before dropping back down on the couch, crossing her arms and pretending to pout.

"You win this time." He finally passes her the remote and she immediately starts switching the channels looking for something to watch.

"Yes. Yes I did."
