The Golden Age
A time of prosperity and unity, the Golden Age was marked by peace among the Children of Aistforth and the flourishing of their respective realms. This era, however, was not without its cracks, as envy and ambition quietly brewed beneath the surface.
1. The Council of the Six
At the heart of Esir governance during the Golden Age was the Council of the Six, a coalition of noble houses entrusted with maintaining balance and order in Eternal Spring. Each house brought its own strengths to the council:
House Kor'Shal (Darkspear): Renowned for their military strategy and leadership, they provided commanders for the Esir army.
House Korza'af (Blackcrown): Custodians of arcane knowledge and political schemers, they held significant sway over decisions affecting the magical arts.
House Ther'Tharn (Skythorn): Keepers of nature and druids of immense power, they ensured the harmony of Eternal Spring's ecosystem.
House Ahn'Vae (Nightcloud): Known for their spies and shadowy influence, they controlled intelligence and covert operations.
House Fiz'Ar (Brightsun): Artisans and scholars, they advanced Esir culture and technology.
House Nis'Daoin (Dawnstar): Devout priests and historians, they safeguarded the spiritual traditions and history of the Esir people.
The Council maintained a delicate equilibrium, but as rivalries grew, their unity began to fracture, setting the stage for future conflict.
2. The Thalassi Alliance
The Thalassi Alliance was a groundbreaking pact between the Humans of Bronzehold and the Selies of Fairvale. Unlike the Krils and Esirs, the Humans and Selies found common ground in their desire to share knowledge and foster mutual growth.
The Selies' Contribution: They mentored Humans in the arcane arts, teaching them the basics of magic and aiding in the development of their fledgling society.
The Humans' Contribution: The resourceful Humans brought innovation and trade, strengthening the Selies' economy and providing technological advancements.
This partnership was deeply resented by the Esirs, who viewed it as an affront to their own authority over magic, and by the Krils, who saw it as a threat to their dominance over Humans.
The Age of Shadows
As the Golden Age faded, tension gave way to darkness. The Age of Shadows was marked by betrayal, war, and the collapse of alliances that had once sustained peace.
1. The Thalassian Wars
The Thalassian Wars erupted when the Esirs sought to dismantle the growing influence of the Thalassi Alliance, viewing it as a destabilizing force.
Causes:
The Esirs' fear of losing their supremacy over magic.
The Krils' ambition to claim the Selies' magical secrets.
The Selies' and Humans' refusal to bow to the elder races.
Key Battles:
The Siege of Fairvale: The Krils and Esirs joined forces briefly to attack Fairvale, leaving it scarred but not broken.
The Battle of the Aistforth River: A pivotal clash where Humans, with Selie spellcasters embedded in their ranks, held back an overwhelming Esir force.
