Soldier (I)

To my younger self,

if I could take back the time,
or tell you what I know now,
I would tell you to brace yourself,
for a few years of hell,
I would tell you that you'll paint a smile
on your face
every single day,
but at night you'll pray for help.

I wish there was something I could do,
to save you from what's coming.
I wish I could tell you about the wars
you will have to fight through.
I wish I could tell you about all the scars,
that will cut a bit too deep,
because they will make you bleed.

Because you might not feel like a soldier,
yet your demons built an army of monsters,
and I know that you are scared,
your pain is like burning flames,
and you can't stop your hands from shaking,
so, if I could tell you what I know now,

I would tell you, that you were a soldier
all along.

I would tell you that you too can become a monster.

I would tell you that there is beauty hiding in the darkness.

I would tell you that not all monsters are there to hurt you,
some are there to learn from you,
because what you will become
is worth
every
single
scar.
