There was a story that went around in my town about souls, death, and god. I never believed in god but this story stuck with me for a long time, the elders in my town believed that we souls get to meet god two times in life, once before we are born and twice after we die.

' God gives everyone their own grim reapers scythe before they are born but they also told us never to use it in. when he was asked why must one never use it, he simply said that if our scythe is untouched by crimson till we meet him in again we will have peace'

I always thought that it was a bunch of nonsense cause I had seen the kindest souls fall into the deepest pit and even been there myself, so why were we so knee-deep in it. Even though I had moved on from it and was living well the question had kept me up at night. 'Why were we in it?'

But I finally got my answer standing in front of god with my scythe in my hands looking up at them after being accompanied by the grim reaper. The story wasn't about hurting others but about us, but that didn't quite satisfy my curiosity.

I looked at them and asked why did we still face those tough times even though our scythe wasn't stained in crimson. They in return just smiled at me and said

"life is full of happiness and sadness, we can't have one without the other. the scythe is the control you have over the ending of your life and your choice if you want to use it or not. as god I only wish to meet souls again when they have returned by being at peace at least once, you might not necessarily be in it when the grim reaper comes to you but you would have found it by then. Though I would still welcome souls who arrive without the grim reaper by their side I am, I would prefer they come with them. you came with the grim reaper so have found your peace, haven't you?"

Looking back on my life I was able to say "Yes, yes I have"

" You might struggle before finding peace or struggle post-peace, but you have found peace, and that's what matters in the end."
