Prick isn't so bad

I enter the fbi office, with everyone suprised.
'Lucy, are you okay?' Steve asks worriedly.
I have started to like Steve alot.
He is my favourite.
'I am fine, that hoe just wanted to talk about paintings' right after I say that Ryen bolts in.
'Told you she would fuck up.'
I wanna punch him. No matter how hard I work, I will never be his partner or his level, he made sure I always knew that.
'Well actually she saved the mission' Steve says taking my side.
'Listen Ryen I have already dealt with enough shit so just please leave me alone.'
I say and leave the room.
I dont have the mental capability of dealing with him right now.
I have already been under so much stress.
I go back to my apartment, since I don't have any more work.
I spend the rest of my day watching cliche movies and talking with Jacob.
Jacob has been doing better. He got a job as a driver. He is earning honest money and I am proud of him. I tell him about everything. All that happened in 2 weeks. After today I finally got my phone back. I needed a talk with him so bad.
Its about evening time when I hear a doorbell.
'Hey' I say opening the door and there he is.
The cold ass prick decided to show up and my house.
'Sorry'
What? How tf did his ego let him say that?
'It's okay' I say 'Anything else?'
'I was wondering if we could go on a walk? You know to talk and shit' he says it a bit nervously.
I can tell this is a big step for him and it took alot of his willpower.
'I would like that' I say with a smile.
I grab a jacket and go out with him.
So much awkward silence.
'So what do you wanna talk about'
'You changed your hair..'
Finally someone I could talk to about it.
'Yeah well, my edgy clothes sealed the deal, plus I think brunette suits me' I say and smile at him again. I like him trying to not be a prick.
'Yes brunette looks well on you'

Ryen complimented me.
Ryen isn't that bad...

I know I change my opinion alot, but I can see that he is an extremely genuine person. Atleast for now, I don't know why he acts like such a cold person in the office. He is actually a little bit kind.

'Nicest thing you ever said to me, thank you.'
'Save it.' he says.
He doesn't smile a lot.

'You didn't come.' I finally spurt out.
'My mom was sick' I can tell I am clearly breaking a boundary, he doesn't wanna talk about it. I shouldn't force him, no matter how curious I am.

'My mom had episodes. She was psycho.' I meant it to say it like a joke but it came off mean and bitchy, as if I am mocking him.
'I should go' He says clearly wanting to leave 'Good luck for next week'
I watch him walk away again. I should stop, but my ego wont let me. I wanna comfort him and tell him that he can talk to me whenever he wants but i can't.

Ryen is unpredictable. One day he is nice next day he acts like a total jerk. I don't know what to do with him. We're not friends so it's not my job to see if he is fine or not, nor is he my office partner, he for sure made me sure about that.
Times like this, I wish I could read minds. For the first time ever i wanted to know what's going on in someone's head, yet I can't and it sucks.
