I was young and naive,
When I saw my dad cry for the first time.
Love was a fairytale,
But I found out I was wrong.
I watched as my mother left us,
For another life Without us.
I was young and naive,
When the truth came out,
It crumbled me to my darkest days.
I watched as my mother went down,
She swore all she needed was love.
As I handed her beer after another.
She swore all she needed was love.
Her lovers became nameless.
I was young and naive,
When I saw my dad cry for the first time.
Thought love was a fairytale,
But I found out I was wrong.
My father was strong,
He met a woman,
Thought she was the one,
Bought her a ring.
Not too long the problems came,
She didn't want us.
My father was strong,
He wouldn't leave us.
He saw what love did when it wasn't right.
I was young and naive,
When I saw my dad cry for the first time.
Love was a fairytale,
But I found out I was wrong.
He met another woman,
Gave her a ring,
They exchanged vows,
I hope she's a good one.
Hopefully he finally found his happily ever after.
I was young and naive,
When I saw my dad cry for the first time.
Love was a fairytale,
But I found out I was wrong.
You're on your knees,
Begging to be my happily ever after,
Take the world on hand in hand,
but I don't know if I'm strong enough.
