Chapter 3 - Nice to meet you

"Pack your bags everyone, Evac. truck is coming very soon. They'll take you to a base camp protected by the military." The Loudspeaker announced

"Grandpa, Get up! It's time to go I think" Tommy said to Grandpa while shaking his arm vigorously to wake him up
"What'd they say?" Grandpa asked
"Some Evac truck thingy is going to take us to some place in which we are going to be eaten by MONSTERS" Tommy said
"It's called a base camp Tommy, And we're not going to be eaten by monsters, We are going to be protected by a thing called the Military" Grandpa enlightened Tommy
"But how do you know? You were asleep!" Tommy asked
"I have been into this thing for a long time" Grandpa said
"How? Tell me NOW!" Tommy said
"It's time to go now Tommy" Grandpa said without responding to him

Soon they walked down the checkpoint to the assembly point. They watched the evacuation truck coming towards the checkpoint.
"Ooo, Hi military! Thank you for saving us, The Monster was going to eat us!" Tommy said to the man driving the truck when he got into it.
"No problem kid, There is a lot more I'm going to be doing for you" The soldier said
"What's your name mate? Thanks for helping a old man and his kid" Grandpa said to the soldier
"My name is Aaron, But I think your grandson prefers calling me military, And I'm fine with you calling me that as well." Aaron said
"Heh, Sure thing military." Grandpa said to Aaron
"I'm going to pick up some passengers from here and all the soldiers, Prepare to meet some friends because they will be your everyone you'll have." Aaron said while stoping the truck at the next checkpoint

The door opened and 5 people entered and occupied the vacant seats.
First an old boy who was 18 entered with a 12  year old kid
Then a woman entered with a man
And an old man alone
After a few minutes when everyone settled down. Aaron tried to get them to talk
"Well it's going to be a long ride so why don't you guys get to know each other eh?"
"Yeah I guess he's right, After all we do have to live together for a while." A passenger said
"Yeah, Let's start off with names shall we?" Grandpa said
The old man started first:
"My name is Michael, I'm an old man from Texas
I ran from my parents at the age of 15 with my elder brother who was 24, He died 3 years ago, Since then I'm lonely with no one to back me up, Hopefully I can trust you guys." Michael said in search of hope
"Sorry about your brother,  Well you can trust us. We'll help you" Grandpa said
"My name is Maria and this is my Adam, We both are married for less than a year. We came here unaware of the situation, I heard the news and I was shattered, We-
"We ended up coming only 2 months before the war started, And we left from our home 2 days ago, packed everything and came to the military checkpoint and so we met you guys, So yeah" Adam continued
"Well nice to meet you guys", Grandpa said
"Yeah, Nice to meet you" Michael said
"You too" Adam and Maria said
"What about you two kids, What's your story?" Grandpa said
"I'm James and this is my brother, Dan. Our parents were killed by the soldiers and we were protected by the military, We were umm, Clueless. But they gave us resources to live with, And brought us to the checkpoint. We seek shelter from you, Please!" James requested on the behalf of Dan and himself
"Don't worry, We will help you." Maria said
"What brings you here with the little kid old man?" Adam asked
"Well this little kid is my life his parents, and my son, Left him only a couple of years after they got to know he had autism, Since then I'm taking care of my grandson." Grandpa said
"But what's your history, And your name" Dan asked
"I don't remember my name, And can't read. I have a shady past and I don't want to go back to that right now, Hope you'll understand Grandpa said
