I was in my room studying for end of semester tests when I got a call. I picked up my phone, checking the caller ID, Dad. Startled, I threw my books to the side and picked up the phone.

Hello Father

Who do you think you're talking to that you're calling Father?

I chuckled lightly at that.

Hi Dad.

That's more like it. How are you mon fils?

I'm great, you?

Fine, now that we have gotten the niceties out of the way, I just wanted to inform you that we are coming back tomorrow for the annual European Vogue Thanksgiving Photoshoot. So, make adequate preparations.

My heart sunk to my feet at the information. I totally forgot about that.

Yes Dad, I replied in monotonal default.

Good. Do you wanna talk to your mum?

No, thank you, I replied sharply before cutting the call.

Why me?

Heaving a big sigh, I dial another number.

Hey bro

Kyle answers after one ring. My heart rate calms down after hearing the familiar voice but when I speak my voice still comes out slightly shaky.

My parents are coming tomorrow

Kyle winced through the phone, feeling my misery.

So, I guess workout's canceled

Really, man, that's what you have to say? Thanks, bestie

I'm kidding. You'll be fine. It's the photoshoot thing, right? With your luck, it'll only be for a day, and she'll be gone. You've survived for 17 years, what's 1 day?

Thanks, man. You always know what to say.

What can I say? I'm awesome.

Yeah, yeah. We'll talk later, I still have one more call to make.

Saying out bye's, I cut the call already dialing another number. She picks up after three rings.

Hey Parker

Tutoring's canceled tomorrow. Okay, see you at school bye.

I move my thumb to the end call button in the middle, hoping to end the call before she realizes what I said. Obviously, I don't succeed.

Woah, Woah...what?

You heard me

That's it. No explanation?

You'll see on Monday

Don't you dare hang up

Woah! My thumb just happened to press the big red button, bye.

I end the call, despite her protests. I turn off my phone as an extended measure.

I sighed. This is going to be a long weekend.

As flash precedes flash, I try to keep my eyes open despite the fact that the cameras keep flashing the dam light in my eyes. I blink a couple of times, still trying to adjust the contact lenses in my eyes which they forced me to use after they took away my precious glasses. Wanna know the worst part? It's not even that they made me remove my beanie. They cut my hair. MY HAIR. I haven't cut my hair in years and now it's all on the floor of some barber's shop. I would have forgiven them if they didn't use hair spray in my hair. I despise hair products.
