The Journey

He waited for a second before getting up. As he got up to get it, someone yelled. "POLICE OPEN UP!" He looked back at me and within seconds we were running out the window away from the house with his dog in his arms. "They know you were there" he said fearfully. We ran into town and stayed in a motel that night. I'm not a complainer but the sheets were scratchy, windows and walls were creaky, and there was no air conditioning or heater. "Austin?" I said."Yeah?" "I can't sleep, what about you?" "Me either. And knowing the cops are looking for us is making it worse" it felt as if I was living a nightmare and soon I'd wake up in a happy place. Oh how I'd wish I had a normal life. But I didn't. And I'll have to live with it unless I learn from Austin. "Hey, Austin. I'm gonna go outside for some fresh air." "Alright" he said. I knew he was concerned and worried but I wasn't sure why. I walked outside and leaned on the wall thinking. Can I trust him? The police are after us and it's his fault. I stared into the distance and that's when I saw the police. "AUSTIN!" I ran inside screaming "THEY- THEY'RE HERE WE GOTTA GO NOW!" He was scared and confused "Wait, Amaira who's here?!" Before I answered we heard knocking on the neighbour's doors and then "POLICE OPEN UP! WE JUST WANNA TALK" was this it? Were we just gonna let ourselves be taken by policemen- NOPE "AUSTIN THE WINDOW" I said quick and suddenly. He was panicking and then grabbed our stuff, opened the window took out the screen and jumped out. We were running as fast as we could. "HEY!" Shit! A policeman saw us. There was a forest not far in front of us and that's when Austin got his brain cells back. "Amaira when we get to the trees I want you to climb the trees and jump from one branch to another!" Nope, he didn't get his brain cells back. I saw it again! I wanted to scream and run back but it was either it or the police and I chose climb the first tree instead of running near it. I told Austin to climb the first tree he saw. But the first tree he saw was the creature and with no hesitation he climbed a tree with barely any branches. He helped me up and we jumped branch to branch without looking back. "Amaira!" Austin screamed but for some reason I didn't know why. Everything was in slow motion now, I looked back at Austin who had stopped running and that's when I realized. "Aghhhhh!" I fell down hitting branch after branch and finally hit the soft dirt and I lied there for what felt like 3 seconds "psst, Amaira." Austin was worried. I could hear it in his voice. "HEY! POLICE! TURN YOURSELVES IN!" Shit! I thought. The police are looking for us and I'm lying on the floor. "C'mon we gotta go" Austin whispered "you've been lying there for almost 10 minutes" I gained some strength and lifted myself up off the cold soft dirt. The creature was not far away from us and stared into my eyes. "Sir, step away from the girl. Austin was too busy helping me up and I was too busy looking at the creature we didn't realize the policeman behind us. "You two are coming with me" He grabbed my arm and yanked me up. I let out a yell of pain. And dropped me back on the ground without a care in the world. "WHAT THE FUCK DUDE?!" I could tell Austin was mad. He pushed away the policeman and went to help me back up. Other policemen came running and one tazzed him. He let out scorching scream. "DON'T YOU DARE!" All of a sudden I felt a sharp pain in my side. "YOU FUCKERS!" It all faded to black.
