This is gonna be a little different sort of writing style, but I wanted to try for this theme of the story. I hope you enjoy!

She was delicate and pure, a smile to light up the worlds night sky. Perhaps even surpassing the bright sun that gleams down on the short blonde.

Her eyes were as blue as the sky, full of hope but a deep sadness resided within them...from the very moment you saw her, stared into her little wide-eyed expression, you wanted to take away whatever pained her.

Skin soft to the touch whenever your fingers brushed against one another, or brushing past each other walking through the training camp, standing rather close to each other each line up as her sweet scent tickled your nose. As fragrant as a field of roses that neighboured a tulip field. She seemed so delicate, always putting other before her. You were almost certain you'd see a heart with an exterior of gold but cracked and broken beneath the facade.

You knew her as Christa Lenz during your time as a cadet in the 104th Cadet Corps. You remember stumbling over your words just trying to introduce yourself to her, your heart fluttered and a light blush dusted your cheeks as you finally got your name out.

"Oh um...I-" You cleared your throat "Y/n L/n" she giggled at your nerves, it was such an infectious giggle. You couldn't help but let a smile break out on your face and giggle along. From embarrassment or just because of Christa was yet to be determined.

When Ymir stepped into the picture you hung around her less and less. Ymir was protective of the short blonde, doing anything and everything for her. You saw the way Ymir looked at Christa, draping an arm around her whenever she could, asking for Christa's hand in marriage whenever the opportunity presented itself. Yet the way Christa would look up at Ymir, how her pupils dilated far more than they did with you. You knew she was just as smitten as the tall, freckled, brunette.

Despite the ache it caused in your heart to see the one that you fell for fall for another, you were happy for Christa. She seemed happier whenever she was with Ymir and lost without her. The happiness seemed to be enough to wipe away the underlying sadness that dwelled behind those little doe eyes. A new happiness that bloomed like the flowers every spring and shown their truly beautiful colours. Brightening up the world each time, and she defiantly brightened your world up.

Perhaps she was even the reason you joined the Survey Corps, or the Scouts for short. Even with Ymir by her side, she shook with fear, dedicating her heart only partly. You knew the other half was perhaps hoping the mortality rate would favour her and release her of a heavy heart. That only broke your heart to think of such an idea, but by the look on Ymir's face that she was thinking the same thing as she glanced down at the small girl who had her eyes squeezed shut and jaw clenched tightly.

What you wouldn't give to envelope Christa into your arms and just hold her, to sit beneath the stars while you brushed your fingers through her hair. A blush creeped up your cheeks as you though of the moments you could spent together before snapping out of it, quickly pushing your feelings back. She was happy with Ymir and you weren't going to take away any happiness that came the sweet girls way.

It wasn't until after the titan attack at Utgard was it revealed that her name was Historia Reiss when Ymir finally snapped. Tired of seeing the girl degrade herself, purposely trying to die in the Scouts, running from her past. It was almost as of something snapped in her blue eyes as Ymir's words reached her and tore down the facade of the golden heart.

She seemed reborn, blossoming into a new woman. More confidence, determination, shedding the fake persona she was forced to take on. You were certain that spring was in full bloom now that Historia was reborn. You caught your breath at the aura she gave off, her presence stronger than ever...what you wouldn't give to pluck a gorgeous flower such as herself, to cherish and admire close up rather than at a distance.

That radiant smile, eyes with a new hope and a new light that had taken place of the once underlying pain beneath them didn't last long. When Ymir was taken it broke Historia. Her smiles didn't seem as genuine, her will almost crumbled, you did everything you could to comfort her but she had pushed people away.

Even after being crowned Queen, Ymir's letter was the only thing she held onto for that entire day. Running her fingers along the paper, reading the words over and over. You knew she shouldn't be left alone, so you made a transfer request to the Military Police. You placed high enough to do so, and before you had met the girl who reminded you of the beautiful spring flowers, you had intended to join the Military Police.

So from a distance you admired her, slipped her little flowers when she wasn't looking. Leaving them on the tables, her pillow, and even wove then into her crown when you could. You smiled to yourself when she would keep them in and wear the crown of flowers. But that deep sadness had settled back in, more evident than ever this time around. Her eyes dulled, her smiles rarely made an appearance...

Your heart ached that even your best efforts from afar did no good. Even if you could close the distance between you two, you knew you'd never compare to Ymir...and for that, you vowed to protect Historia with your last breath, to do anything to see that smile on her face again and light in her eyes return.

Your love for her had never faded...from being Cadets together, to the Scouts, to where you are now, your heart still swelled with love for the once radiant woman. But now it was as if the flowers in spring had wilted, but you swore to yourself that someday they would bloom again.

She was a beautiful flower once in full bloom, now wilted to pain and grief again. But someday you would see her bloom again...Even if it was from a distance.
