Your blades sliced through the nape of a titans neck, nice and smooth, almost like butter. Except fleshy. Wiping away any titan blood that had splattered onto your face you looked behind your shoulder with a satisfied smirk on your face, your feet firmly planted back on the ground.

When you first started in the Survey Corps you didn't realise how much upper body strength it would take to even slice a titan's neck. Everyone made it look so effortless, even Hange was able to do it with ease and they would prefer to catch the titans rather than kill them. You thought if the Sections Commander could do it just as easily as Levi and Miche could, then so could you– until your blades nearly snapped in half during your first expedition and Hange was the one who had to come and save your ass from ending up as titan fodder. The crazed look in their eyes, a wide and almost mouth-watering grin spread across their face. It was all still freshly burned in your memory a couple of years later.

"Oi, brat."

Levi's voice cut through your thoughts and snapped you back to reality. For someone so short he was rather intimidating, with a voice deep yet void of emotions. You turned to face your squad leader, his eyes still stuck in their same old bored expression as he walked over, sheathing his blades wrinkling his nose in disgust at the mess on his uniform. Lucky for the neat-freak, titan's blood disappears within time. "I need an update on your area, is it secured yet or not?" Levi asked as his eyes scanned the perimeter before you were met with his dulled expression once more. "Right, s...s..s-sorry Captain. The area is secured." You saluted.

"At least one of you brats can kill a damn titan," He mumbled under his breath. You couldn't help but giggle slightly knowing that he was talking about Eren and his friends– except Mikasa. She could hold her own. The others? You were surprised some of them were still alive. You stifled your giggling when Levi's eyes shifted back towards you with a much more threatening look to them. You nearly choked on your stifled laughter as you gave the Captain a crooked and nervous smile.

Levi turned to leave, he had taken a couple of steps before looking over his shoulder back at you, "You'll be joining Hange's squad when we get back to headquarters. Erwin wants to make room for Eren," Levi mumbled, he didn't sound very happy about the news, then again, he wasn't one to show any emotions in the first place. You assumed, in this case, he was just annoyed that he became a babysitter. "H-Hange's Squad?" You stammered a bit in shock. "Erwin's choice, not mine." Levi rolled his eyes and began walking away to give his squad's report to Commander Erwin. You knew it was pointless to argue about losing your spot in the Special Operations Squad, and Levi wasn't going to fight Erwin on his decisions. It would be a lose-lose situation.

For the duration of the expedition, your nerves were worse than ever. Truth be told you started to like the tall brunette and their crazy little ways. Luckily for you, you didn't have to be around them constantly since you weren't in their squad. But now, within a matter of days, you would be spending a lot more time with them. You pursed your lips and sighed, "T..t..t-this is going to be interesting..." you mumbled under your breath and hurried to catch up with Levi.

The expedition seemed to drag on forever since you learned about your new squad placement. Restless nights filled with an overthinking brain, you were relieved when it was time to head back to headquarters. Perhaps joining Hange's squad wouldn't be so bad, you could keep your cool, and hide any feelings for your Sections Commander easily. Nothing to worry about– "Oooiiii! Y/n!" Hange's voice called out.

Never mind...your nerves were flaring up again, a blush already creeping its way onto your cheeks as the brunette happily hurried towards you and your horse. "O-Oh Hange, I heard I was joining your s..s....s..s-squad." You smiled meekly. A beaming smile made its way onto Hange's lips as they nodded. "Let's get you settled in! Moblit! Come welcome Y/n into the squad!" Hange called out, grabbing your hand and dragging you to meet your new squadmates.
