TWs: Panic, strangling, choking, blood, gore
Maureen turned to Saffron quickly, "Sorry, but there's no time for formal introductions now." Saffron opened her mouth to respond, but Maureen cut her off. "I have a few questions for you." Saffron settled for a nod this time as they walked quickly back into the hub. "John?!" No response. "John!" They all turned as Judy was coming out of the control deck. "Where's your father?"
"I- I think he's still in the basement. Why, what's wrong?" Judy asked, nervous anticipation giving a slight shake to her voice.
"Will said there was something on board." Maureen couldn't stand still, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet. Her Jupiter and family were in possible danger after all. Saffron stood next to Maureen, looking back and forth between the three Robinsons in front of her. Her gaze, however, was soon drawn to the ship as the familiar noise was heard again, but she still couldn't place where she knew it from.
"What?" Judy said in disbelief. Maureen sighed.
"Ok, Judy, you go find Dr. Smith. Penny, you can stay here and-" Maureen was cut off by something large smacking against the ground at everyone's feet. They all jumped back, Saffron's hand rushing to clutch her chest while the other girls screamed. Saffron felt Maureen grab her arm from behind her to steady herself. Everyone had looked up at John, who had just entered the room and scared them all, but Saffron was staring at what he threw on the ground.
"Don't go downstairs," John said in a raspy, out-of-breath voice. Saffron's eyes hadn't left the creature that had just been thrown onto the Jupiter floor. It was the snake thing she had to deal with on her Jupiter. She bit her lip nervously, staring at the creature leaking ooze onto the polished floors.
"Is it dead?" Saffron heard Penny ask quietly.
"It is now," John said, panting. He must have been fighting the thing for a while. They are quite flexible, Saffron thought, nodding to herself.
"What is it?" Questioned Judy.
"And why does it smell so bad," Penny added.
"No idea," John started, "But it probably came in through one of the puncture holes of the crash."
"And you think it's been hiding in the ship the whole time?" Maureen asked quickly. She stood up, turned around, and saw Saffron staring at the eel with a look of anger and recognition.
"It smells like it's been hiding in someone's butthole." Penny quipped with a look of disdain. Saffron didn't notice Maureen beside her until she rested her hand on her forearm again.
"Do you know what this is?" Maureen asked Saffron quietly. She felt everyone's eyes slide to her. John let out a quiet noise of surprise once he realized she was standing there. Saffron didn't take her eyes off the creature but nodded slowly. "What is it?" Saffron could tell she was trying to be gentle about it. I must look pretty pissed.
Saffron closed her eyes and took a deep breath, calming herself. Right now was not the time to freak out on the people who saved me. I've already dealt with this problem, so let's help them out. It's also my chance to get on Maureen's good side. Saffrpm opened her eyes and tried to swallow her emotions.
She stepped out and reached to grab the snake. She hoisted it up and let the long body dangle over her shoulders. Saffron could hear Penny gagging behind her as she walked over to the counter at the side of the Hub. She flopped it down harshly, making a loud thud that echoed in the open space. She went for the tool belt around her waist when she remembered she hadn't put it on after waking up in the med bay. Saffron turned and looked around and saw John walk up to her. He must've guessed what she was looking for because he handed her his pocket knife. She grabbed it, hesitant at first but then with more confidence, looking up at him and giving him a small smile. She turned back to the dead animal and took a deep breath, steadying herself before, once again, slicing into one of these animals.
