As Everest's words left her mouth, Ryder, the pups and Katie looked at her and Marshall, they had a look of curiosity but, despite not saying anything, both of them felt like they didn't need to rush through any of this. Everest tried to speak up first, but her words just stayed in the back of her throat as she began to hyperventilate, sweat dripping down her face combined with tears to the point where you couldn't tell what was what.

Seeing this, Marshall went over to Everest, rubbing a paw on her back as he began to speak. "W-Well guys, I'll start." Marshall said, getting everyone's attention off of Everest so she could calm herself down a bit.

"Okay Marshall, if you or Everest need to stop while doing this, please do, we don't want you to force yourself down to do any of this" Katie cut in just as Marshall was about to continue speaking.

Seeing Marshall freeze up as he listened to Katie's words, the other pups and Ryder took their chance to reassure both pups everything would be okay

The entire group had spoken as everyone looked to Ryder, as he was the last one to speak. "I agree with what everyone here has said, Marshall, Everest, you're both extremely brave to face everything, even when it hurts more than anything before. Please take your time with this, and don't feel pressured to go further than what your mind can take, okay?" Ryder finished speaking as he sat down, seeing Marshall breathe lightly before he spoke again.

Hearing all of the kind words from everyone was like a green light to Marshall, as he began to search his thoughts and memories of his past for what to start with. He didn't want to get into everything, out of fear of upsetting the younger pups, everyone here is basically still a child, but Marshall knew Rubble and Zuma would take things like this the hardest out of anyone.

"Well, it all started back at our firehouse" Marshall began as he laid down in front of the pups, Ryder and Katie, with the entire group holding their breath for what he'd say.

AN: The rest of this chapter is not in the present of the prequel, it will be the beginning of the true events of what happened to Marshall all those years ago. There will be more Point of Views than just Marshall's too. The set up for Everest's recollection will come in a future chapter and this is only the start of the recollection phase of the story. Enjoy!

Somewhere in the United States, a forest fire was raging and the nearby fire station was in full alarm as one of the two adult Dalmatians ran out with the firefighters to provide comfort for the injured victims. This dog was Smoke, Blaze's wife and Marshall's mother.

Hours after the firefighters and Smoke left, Marshall woke up to see his mom not right next to him as she was when he fell asleep, but he did a feel a warm sensation on his cheek, looking to the direction it came from, he saw his father, Blaze, laying down next to him, smiling lightly.

Looking around, Marshall didn't see his mom and whimpered softly, concerned for his mom despite Blaze being right there with him.

"D-dad, where's mom?" Marshall let out with another whimper accompanying it as he also saw no other firefighters in the fire station.

Blaze looked down at Marshall again with a soft smile as he responded, licking the young Dalmatian's cheek. "Your mom has to get fight a fire, she'll be back when the fire is out" Blaze replied, but he wasn't fully sure if that last part was directed at just Marshall, or both of them. He was concerned about Smoke as well, but he trusted her to take care of herself in that forest fire.

At the forest fire.

Smoke watched as the firefighters ran into the raging fire in the major forest. She was told to stay outside the fire to minimize the risk of injury to herself and to provide comfort for the injured survivors they found. And so she sat there, waiting for the firefighters to get out.

But nearly four hours later, no one had come out. Smoke's firefighting instincts and training came into full force in her mind, with no thought about her safety, she charged into the fire, unknowing of the fact someone was watching her run in and began pouring gasoline into the fire as they watched fireballs go fly into the sky from the forest.

Pulling out a radio, they got into contact with an encrypted transmission. "Butch it's me, the mom of the dog you had your eyes on is going to be dead by the end of the day, I just poured the gasoline as we planned" he laughed eerily as Smoke continued to run into the fire, fully determined to do everything she could to preserve her life and save everyone she could.

Sorry for the short chapter but part two of Marshall's recollection will be next chapter, see you all next time! And as always feedback is always appreciated
