I took the film of my Polaroid, and began to air it. As soon as the bus station came into view, I put the photos and my Polaroid away into my bag.
Don't worry, you can do this. This is only one year away until I can graduate, and my life can become anew.
I stepped off the bus with my suitcase. I saw a man who was well dressed enough to go to a business meeting. He also had a chauffeur hat. The short venerable man was holding a sign with my name on it. Alma. It was an unusual name my mother had given me, but she was anything except normal. At least that's what I've been told my whole life. I never really knew my mother. It might have been because she died in a car accident. I try to hold onto the memories of her, but I eventually forgot about them.I walked over to the chauffeur. His cheeks were rosy, and he looked like he didn't have much hair left on his hair underneath his hat. He could have been Santa Claus in disguise.
"Miss Price?" he asked. "That would be me."
"May I carry your suitcase, miss Price?"
"Oh no, I can do it." I insisted.
"Miss, it's okay. As feeble as I look, I am the man of steel."
I couldn't interfere anymore, or else we would be bickering in Washington where the cool August air was beginning to kick in this season, and I was beginning to shiver. As I was being driven to Knight Cross, the private boarding school I was forced to enroll to, the knots in my stomach began to grow tighter, and I was beginning to feel nauseous.
The car came into a full stop. The chauffeur had turned around to face me in the backseat.
"We're here miss, do you need any assistance with your things?" He asked.
"No, but thank you. It's only a suitcase anyways. I can handle it."
I was barely audible. I hadn't said another word or moved an inch for the past few minutes.
"Miss are you alright?" The man held concern in his voice.
"What if I don't want to go. Is there an option to keep driving?"
The driver chuckled at my comment.
"I'm afraid not. Don 't worry about going to a new school. You'll do fine in no time."
"Thank you." I said as I got out the car.
Sadly, the driver's words weren't able to snap me out of my anxiety. I was welcomed by a man and a woman in office attire.
"Hi, welcome to Knight Cross, you must be Alma Price. My name is Debra Kowalski, the headmaster. This is Kyle Morgan, your assistant principal for twelfth grade."
Mrs. Kolwalski said gesturing towards The nerdy man next to her.
"It's a pleasure to meet Micheal Price's daughter." he said shaking my hand.
Micheal Price, otherwise known as my dad, is well known in the business world. For my dad, it's all about representing 'perfection'. It's a shame that I couldn't give him perfection. At least he made sure I always stayed under the media's radar.
"Your father has already notified me to make sure the student population doesn't know your relation to him in order to maintain a completely normal atmosphere while you study here."
A girl in a dark red polo and khaki shorts opened up the trunk of the black Mercedes, and took my suitcase away.
"Um, where are my things going?"
"Oh don't mind her. she's only taking your things to your dorm. At the mean time, explore the school since you joined week late from the first day, and you need to find your classes. Hopefully we can talk again, and not for the wrong reasons."
I said my goodbyes to Mrs. Kolwalski and Mr. Morgan, and entered campus to find my classes. Everyone was wearing a uniform. I forgot about how students were supposed to dress. The guys wore white dress shirts with a dark red tie, and a black blazer. They were lucky to have the option to wear khaki or black pants. As for the uniform that I would, and every girl in this school would have to wear for the rest of the school year was the same white dress shirts, dark red ties, and black blazers that the guys wore, but the girls wore Burgundy plaid skirts. I felt like an elephant in a crowd full of zebras since I was dressed in regular clothes
After finding all of my seven classes, I also found the dining hall, and the direction towards the dorm houses. The last thing I needed to do was to find myself a hideout. I tried the library, but there was constant hushing, and too many couples making out. At last, I found the spot I'll spend time in. It was a park area of the school campus. It was no surprise to see the emptiness.
I decided to take a look around, when I heard a sudden voice. I slowly got closer to the sound to find some guy on a bench. I quickly hid behind a big tree. "Sure, fine. I'll do it." The guy sounded passive aggressive. The guy hung up on the phone. He pulled out a cigarette, and lit it up. His hair unkempt, yet it laid down nicely and his eyes were hard to tell whether or not they were black or dark brown.
He looked forlorn, and I couldn't help myself. My fingers were itching to take a photo. I pulled out my Polaroid, and snapped a photo of this troubled looking person. I heard another voice in the distance.
"Gaige!" It was some kid with crazy auburn curls.
The guy looked up, and muttered something to himself.
"Now's not the time." The guy said after he exhaled the smoke from his lungs.
"C'mon Gaige, I know you have more of that stuff. I might just hit a home run with the girl I told you about, if you know what I mean."
Couldn't this kid get any creepier enough?
"You do realize that she's just using you to buy her stuff so that she didn't have to waste a dime on herself? But since I do enjoy a good sob story, we can make a deal."
The guy pulled out a small bag of white powder. Alright Alma, you've seen enough. Time to go. As I made my cue to leave, I stepped on an twig that snapped. Oh fu-
I heard footsteps quickly following where I stood.
"Ahem. Can I ask you why you were eavesdropping ?"
I slowly turned around, and stood there paralyzed. He looked even more handsome up close, but black holes that were his eyes frightened me.
"I asked you a question." he spoke again. He then examined me from head to toe.
"Can I see the photo you took?" I realized I still had my camera, and the photo in my hands.
I started to break into a sprint out of the park while putting the photo in my butt pocket, and the camera in the bag. I don't know why I ran- especially since there was nothing incriminating to show. All I knew now is that I needed to find my dorm room.
Suddenly I began to feel lightheaded. I turned around to see the guy chasing and gaining up on me. My nerves intensified even more than before.
Before I could even comprehend what was in front of me, I ran into a pole. Everything began to dim out to the point I only saw black.-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
AUTHOR'S NOTE
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-I started this book when I was ending 8th grade. Every now and then I came back to Wattpad to cringe at myself for how I wrote. Now I'm almost graduating highschool, and I was kind of bored. So I revisited a moment of my childhood, and cringed again. The only difference from now and the previous times is that I re-edited this and even changed the storyline a bit. So maybe it won't be as cringe-y as 4 years ago. Also-smoking? Not cool, don't do it.
