this is unedited so sorry for the grammar, and punctuation!!
It was now Sunday and I had been on campus for a whole 24 hours now. It honestly wasn't bad at all, I've been having a pretty good time with ivy the last couple hours. We've been playing board games all day, and just got finished with an intense round of just dance.
"Holy shit Elizabeth, were you some sort of dancer in your past lIfe?" She says while trying to catch her breath.
I laugh while walking over to the fridge to grab a water. "Want one?" I question. She nods her head while plopping down onto the couch. I follow and drop down right next to her leaning my head on the back of it.
"I don't think I've been that active in a long while. That was my workout for the whole year." Ivy looks over at me and laughs. "Oh yeah? Well that's too bad cause you're coming with me in an hour to meet the guys," She says matter of fact.
I jump out of my seat. "What?!"
She gives me a mischievous smile. "Yeah well I figured since we're gonna be hanging out a lot more I should introduce you to my friends. Oh! And then we could be like one of those cute pinterest friend groups that I always see," She says with a big smile plastered on her face.
Gosh this girl.
"Well then I should probably go shower. I don't want my first impression to be a sewer drain stench," I say while wrinkling my nose
She nods her head in understanding. "Meh I don't think they will mind, It's probably going to be masked up by their smell cause we're going to watch the last bit of practice. They're gonna smell nice and fresh just for you."
I laugh. "As long as it isn't me then I'll be fine." Ivy gets up from the couch groaning in pain.
"Dude I'm so soree," She says while emphasizing the e. I laugh and then retreat into the bathroom to wash this smell off of me. Right before I enter the shower I hear Ivy yell something.
"Meet me out here in an hour! I don't want to be late."
I yell back okay and then hop into the steamy shower.
Hmm this is nice.
--------------
I took a nice 30 minute shower.
If I had been back home my Momma would be yelling at me to shut the water off to 'save money'. Maybe she could have used the money she was saving to actually pay our bills instead of whatever she was buying off that man.
Anywho now I'm rushing to find an outfit, tame my lion's mane of hair, and fix my smeared makeup. I start with picking out an outfit which consists of light washed jeans and a cute strappy white top. I pair it with my favorite converse, and a cute little yellow scrunchy for a pop of color.
I throw my clothes on and admire the way my pants fit on my butt. I don't have a very big one, but it's at least noticeable.
I head over to the mirror and wash my face before adding some moisturizer. Don't want a crusty face.
I throw on some concealer to cover up my very noticeable eye bags, some mascara and blush. I finish my look with highlighter on my nose and in the corner of my eyes and then my favorite vanilla chapstick.
I don't even know why they make flavored chapstick, it's not like anyone else is going to know what flavor it is.
anyways.
I grab my yellow scrunchie and throw my hair into a half up half down style, making sure to pull out some pieces to frame my face.
I exit the bathroom and grab my phone and wallet just in time to hear aivy yelling my name. "Elizabeth get your ass out here!" I turn the corner of the hallway and see Ivy standing there in some black ripped jeans and a cute grey sweater. "Dang babe you sure do clean up good," Ivy says while eyeing me with a smirk.
I laugh. "So do you." She smiles at me then waves her hand towards the door. "Come on let's go, I told Connor I would be there to watch at least the last 15 minutes of practice. And he's holding me to it." I nod my head in response and we make our way out of the door.
We exit the building and begin making our way to Ivy's car. My mouth practically drops open when I realize which one is hers.
"No way."
Ivy nods. "Oh yes way," She says with a big grin. "My dad bought it for me as a gift for my senior graduation. Isn't it awesome."
"Awesome? Rocket ships are awesome, but this... this is amazing. How did he manage to get a cherry red 1962 chevy corvette? And it's convertible?!"
Ivy gives me a shocked expression. "Dang Liz, you sure do know your cars. How's that?" She asks while hopping into the driver's seat. I pull open the door with such ease as if I might harm the car.
"Oh me and my dad used to work on cars all the time. This was the one he always wanted." I say with a small smile. She starts the car and the sound is pure heaven alone. I could listen to it purr all day.
She pulls out of the lot, and there is a small silence before she speaks up again. "I noticed whenever you talk about your dad you always use 'used to' or 'did'. Did something happen?"
I nod my head. "Yeah, when I was really young he passed away from cancer. there was nothing the doctors could do about it, it was pancreatic." SHe goes silent for a second.
"Oh Liz, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to bring it up or upset you." I shrug it off. "It's okay. I've learned to live with it and I cherished every moment I had with him."
She nods her head. "Yeah I did the same with my dad, I just miss him so much sometimes you know?"
"Oh I know."
She changes the subject rather quickly asking what my favorite artist is.
"Okay you promise not to laugh?" She lets out a 'pfft' sound. "Of course."
I let a moment of lingering silence go before I speak up again. "Taylor Swift." Ivy halts the car so aggressively that I jerk forward, almost hitting the dash.
"No way! That's mine!" She squeals.
She grabs her phone quickly, throwing on a playlist. And what's the first song that pops up? Oh well that would be wildest dreams. We scream the song all the way to the arena where the guys practice.
We only finally stop once we've pulled into a parking spot and the car turns off. Ivy finally looks over at me and sends the biggest smile.
"I think you're my soulmate."
I laugh at her outburst.
Me too Ivy. Me too.
