It was a blessing that there are less customers who frequented the coffee shop during the commotion that Larraine and Johansen caused, giving her a moment to calm herself while her grandma never tired hugging her.
Silence is all Larraine needed to put her mind and heart in tranquil.
But unbeknownst to them, three huge men heavily draped in dark cloak which underneath hides their partial suits armor and the empire’s coat of arms are silently gathered at the corner, as if a prayer meeting was happening.
All three of them are in a frozen state from what they have just witnessed so early in the morning.
A man whose face was covered by a cloak finally breathed after holding his breath for a long time, he doesn’t want to cause a ruckus while the shop owners are having their personal lives settled but he really need another cup of strong coffee.
“Ah fuck...let me have yours” he cursed beneath his breath as he munched on his third bread and took the coffee mug from the man beside him
“Commander Kalix! You’ve just stolen my fucking bread already and now my cup...” his comrade tried to protest, with that, a kick was given under the table making the protesting man squirm
“Shut your mouth Damian, we’ve heard enough commotion don’t add more to it” Kalix spat
“Damn Bastard” Damian said through gritted teeth, if they were inside the premises of the empire’s training grounds along with the knighthood, Damian knows he won’t live for another day for how he just called the Grand commander of the imperial knight a damn bastard
A chuckle was heard from the other man, Damian’s brother, Sir Arthur
“Commander Kalix seemed to be in a bad mood, shall we order a stronger and more bitter coffee then?” Arthur urged as he began raising his hands
“Get that hands down Arthur and don’t bother the owners, finish up we’ll leave” Kalix responded, gulping all the contents of Damian’s coffee
His dark eyes wandered to the frail woman who seems to have calmed down now
He remembered the man’s face who just left the shop, Marquis Olifar’s adapted son who was introduced couple of times during the last year's imperial gathering.
Kalix snorted at how absurd the newly crowned Marquis' son has gotten. Although, he doesn’t give a single fuck about royalties himself, the sole reason he defied his father, the duke, and joined the imperial knighthood. Kalix does not want to feel restrained by the royal's responsibility.
He thought, how can that man whole heartedly plunge himself in the damned exhausting world of the nobilities?
“You’re done?” Arthur asked his brother, Damian, who’s still trying to move on from his stolen coffee, now he can’t even order another cup because Kalix warned them not to bother the owners
“No, I’m not done yet until I get another mug” Damian protested, his big green eyes looks as mischievous as ever
“Then we’ll leave you” Kalix replied unbothered as he started fixing his armories
Kalix felt hot, It was hot enough inside the shop but his thick and heavy clothing underneath isn’t helping at all.
It has been a top secret between them, Kalix, Arthur and Damian who has been frequenting the coffee shop since the last war ended. It was their escape away from the palace's grounds.
Kalix decided to take his cloak off for the time being, his golden hair draped down his eyes and covered his face until his jaw, his dark eyes looked murderous but that’s how he usually looks.
