(Le time skip: 2 days later)
After I finished my homework, I went up to my room, quietly shutting the door behind me. I changed into pajamas and went to untuck my covers, when I heard noises on my window. I opened it and peeked out to see a dark figure with a bright purple hoodie.
"Christopher? Is that you?" I whispered.
"Help me up and you'll see." He chucked as he climbed up the tree next to my room.
I began to get scared. What if it isn't Chris?
He came right up to my window and put his hood back. And of course, it was Christopher.
"Christopher James! What are you doing here? It's like 9 at night!" I whispered loudly.
"Exactly... It's 9. It's not like it's midnight. Did I catch you going to sleep at 9?" he laughed.
I shrugged with guilt in my smile.
We walked over and sat on the light pink couch in my room and sat in silence until I broke it.
"Anyways, why are you here? You act like we're friends and then I see you in school and you don't even make eye contact with me. If I wanted friends, trust me, I'd get some. But who wants to be friends with a loser like me? Nobody. Exactly. So this little friend act your pulling with me, believe me, I know the truth. I'm just another one of those lonely, weird, and shy girls that the 'cool boys' wanna chase after just to find their secrets and be a jerk." I said and looked away. He looked shocked at my harshness but quickly responded.
"Woah woah. Ariana. I just was coming over to see if you were up for some McDonald's." Chris replied.
"Christopher, I'm not blind. I know what I am. But can we finish this mini fight later? I'm really hungry." I chuckled.
He nodded. I went to get dressed in white leggings and a long sleeve black vneck. I walked out of my bathroom. Christopher stared me down.
"Like what you see?" I giggled as I walked out of the room.
We went into Chris's car. My parents wouldn't mind if I went out. I mean, my curfew is 10 and how long is McDonald's gonna take?
He drove out of my driveway and started playing music as he sang along. I laughed and sang with him. After he song was over, we arrived at McDonalds.
"Hi, could we have two quarter pound burgers?" Chris told the cashier.
I hit him and said "Only one burger. I'll have a salad."
"Loser" he mumbled as he smiled. We got out food and went to the table.
"So Christopher. Tell me something. Why do you think we're friends? I mean, to be honest, I would consider us friends, but that's when you come into play." I said as I took a sip of my lemonade.
"Continue" he nodded.
"Well, our friendship is up to you. What makes you think I'd want a friend who's embarrassed to even make eye contact with me during school?"
"Ari, C'mon. You know I don't hate you."
"And I also know you don't love me either."
"Fine. Would it make you ever so happy if I sat with you at lunch tomorrow?"
"Mhm" I smiled with satisfactory.
After the mini dinner, we got in Chris's car and began to drive home. After about 5 minutes, Chris took a wrong turn.
"Wrong way turn around!" I squealed.
"Oh it's the wrong way home. And we aren't going there." Chris smirked.
Ugh what in the world is he up to.
"Well then where are we going?" I asked.
"Your first party."
"Christopher! My parents will kill me if I'm not home by 10!" I said.
"Oh don't worry, either way it's already 10:05 so yeah. Just kidding I saw a note on your counter that they won't be home til the morning. Which gives me plenty of time to take you to the party." He said.
"Oh, well it's not really a surprise. They're never home." I sighed.
"Chris, I really don't think this is a good idea" I said.
"Why?"
"Well, like you and I both know, I'm not exactly the party or 'popular girl' type. Don't you think all your friends won't wanna talk to you anymore for hanging around with a nobody like me?" I said looking down.
"No, Ari, don't worry. If they say anything, and I mean anything about you, I'll punch 'em up right away. Don't stress it. We're going to the party for you to have fun."
"Thanks." I smiled.
"No problem"
We hopped out of the car and went into the party. Of course, it was at the one and only Logan Nedmo's house, aka the schools biggest jock.
It was all so new and weird to me. Flashing lights, dirty dancing, alcohol, and I wanted nothing to do with it. Chris looked down at me and I have a fake smile. Logan came up to us.
"Hey bro, sup? So tonight I'm gon-" he paused "Oh. Yanno what, I got some people over there waiting for me. Talk to ya lates" Logan continued. Thank god he didn't realize I'm here.
"Let's go dance!" Chris said.
"Chris I don't know this really isn't my thing. To be honest, I'd rather just be home writing songs in my basement." I giggled. "But, I guess I'll dance for a tiny bit. Not too long." I finished.
"Sounds good."
We went to the living room and danced for a while. I wouldn't let him get too crazy so I had a strict hands only code. Right as I began to have fun, Logan and Jack came over.
"Hey guys what's up? This is Ariana, I brought her here toni-" Chris got cut off.
"Yeah we know who she is. What's she doin here?" Jack said. He grabbed my arm and started pulling me. Chris pushed him.
"Bro back off." Chris said loudly. Everyone silenced and watched us.
"Jack, bring her out to the backyard." Logan said.
"Hey! Get your hands off her! I didn't even want her to come here. Her parents hate her enough that they're making me babysit her tonight. And why would I wanna miss this party?" Chris said.
Tears began to fall down my face. I pulled out of Jack's hand and ran out the front door. I got to the top of the driveway and Chris came bursting out of the front door.
"Ari! Wait!" he screamed and ran behind me. He grabbed my hand, turning me around to face him.
"What do you want?" I said as I cried, trying to hold back my tears.
"Ariana I'm sorry. I did what I had to do. I didn't want this to happen."
"What to happen? Christopher, I really was starting to have feelings for you and no matter how much you don't admit it, you know you had feelings too. You may deny it to keep your social status the same, but in reality, you wouldn't want to ever risk being seen with someone like me in public. I'm a loser. An embarrassment. A nobody. No matter how much you think they don't, words hurt. Maybe you wouldn't think they'd hurt me because yeah I'm used to it. Does that make you think I go home to my empty house crying myself to sleep every night because of the hard times your friends put me through? People are mean. Girls are mean. Boys are mean. Don't try and stop me, I'm going home. And don't try to call me or text me or come to my house because I'm not gonna be your little secret. Goodbye Christopher." I cried and ran off.
