I got boiling hot water all over my house and legs but I didn't even care. My song. It was on the radio. How?! I was so confused and happy at the same time.
"Oh my god! Is this MY song?" I squealed.
"Sounds like it." Chris smiled.
"But...how? I never sent it to anyone or did anything with it!" I said.
"Some things don't need explanation." he grinned.
Did he send my songs to someone?
"Don't worry about it right now. Let's just enjoy it!" Chris said while he shook head.
"I love the way you make me feel, I love it, I love it" I sang and danced around the kitchen.
After the song finished it went back to the announcers. They said nothing other than the usual.
I walked back to the counter and saw my phone vibrating. It was from an unknown number from Los Angeles.
"Hello?"
"Um hi, who is this?" I asked.
"Oh sorry, this is Scooter Braun. I'm a music manager and producer in LA. Just wondering... did you hear your song on the radio? The way?" the voice said.
"Uh yeah. Yeah I did. What's up with that? I never sent it in to anyone or did anything with it. I have albums after albums and song after song written and I've not once done a single thing with them. How did that happen?" I said.
"Well, I got an anonymous link to a YouTube video of you with your song. The person then sent the audio recording of the song. It was amazing and I loved it so much, so I decided to send it in for a play or two on the radio." Scooter said.
"Wow thanks so much that was really cool and kind of you. Well I guess I'll let you go, I'd assume you've got lots of things to do right now." I giggled.
"Actually no. I called to offer you something. It's a once in a lifetime offer. Would you want to come to LA, and be represented by me as your music manager, to record a hit album?" Scooter asked. My jaw dropped and I couldn't say anything.
"Remember, now or never. This is only a one time offer." he continued.
"Yes! I will!" I screamed.
We talked out all the details and Chris booked me flights and got me packed. I talked to my mom about it and she agreed to it. As soon as I knew it, after a week, it was my last day home for a while. My mom decided to throw a little party for my family, and Christopher came too. We went up to my room to get away from all the questions the older relatives were asking.
"So.. You'll be gone for a while huh?" Chris sighed.
"And that disappoints you ever so much because?" I trailed off.
"I won't have any friends right next door!" Christopher whined.
"I promise I'll FaceTime you as much as I can." I said.
"I know, but it just won't be the same. You're like the only friend I have that I can just show up at their house whenever I want"
"Hm, well if you were so happy about our friendship maybe you'd actually tell people we're friends, huh?" I said and flopped on my bed to lay on my back. Chris followed and did the same.
He just sighed and said nothing except for stand up.
"How's this. You get rich in LA, buy us a mansion and we can get married and live there forever?" he joked.
"Are you asking me out?" I giggled and sat up.
He nodded.
"Well in that case, sure." I smiled. Christopher hugged me and when I least expected it, he leaned in and kissed me. Right on the lips. I kissed back and suddenly I heard the door knob shake. I panicked but then I realized I locked it. I walked over and opened the door and I couldn't believe my eyes.
"FRANKIE!" I screamed and jumped on top of my older brother.
"Ari!" he screamed back.
"I'm so glad you're here!"
"Me too! I wouldn't miss my little sisters record deal party for a night alone in my apartment watching netflix." Frankie laughed and I laughed back.
"Chris, this is my brother Frankie. Frankie, this is Chris, the neighbor and my boyfriend." I smiled. They gave a man hug to each other and Frankie said, "I feel like I'm interrupting something if you know what I mean. I'll go back downstairs with kookoo head great aunt Linda." Frankie rolled his eyes and walked away. Me and Chris laughed and resumed where we were. I hugged him.
"I'm gonna miss you." I said into his shirt.
"I'm gonna miss you too, but you can't pass this opportunity. It'll be no time before I come and visit you. And you'll be back in a few months anyways." Chris said.
I smiled and then heard my mom calling.
"Ariana! Big day tomorrow! Let's have Chris go home so you can get some sleep!" She yelled.
"Okay!" I yelled back.
"Alright, well I'll text you as soon as I get to LA." I hugged Chris goodbye. We said our goodbyes and I went to sleep.
