"Right now we need you more than ever, Jinx." Silco begins softly, frowning as the girl he's speaking to rattles and mumbles to herself from above, her two neatly braided plaits swinging down and swaying the more she moves.
"I keep... seeing her." Jinx replies softly, flinching slightly as she glances around warily, banging two grenades together cautiously as Silco eyes me for a second, receiving nothing more than a simple shrug before glancing back up at the girl above him.
"You're the only one I can trust with this, Jinx."
"She's out there..." Jinx interrupts, giving me a small, sad gaze before shaking her head, going back to slamming the two bombs together angrily, "She's not my sister."
"She doesn't have to be Jinx, but this machine has to be done." Silco places a hand on his face, rubbing his eyes tiredly as he leans forward to grab a cigarette from the pot in front of him, lighting it up slowly, "And we don't have much time."A slam is heard as Jinx jumps down from her hideout, blowing her hair out of her face as she looks at him dismissively, her entire mood switching as I feel her gaze glance back to me immediately after, a sigh laced with anger flowing past her lips as she pushes past me with a painful nudge, leaving the room.
Silco exhales at this, leaning forward and taking a long, dragged out puff, keeping his gaze locked on the table, "I only want the best for her-"
"I understand." I cut in, "I'll try talk to her, she's very bright so I'm sure she'll return back to working in no time, dealing with what she has is hard you know." I shrug, watching him carefully as he puffs the smoke back out, a cloud sifting through the air as he looks up at me.
"Yes, I do, but she needs to learn that fear isn't meant to control her, but drive her." He stretches, rolling his shoulders before bringing the cigarette back to his lips, speaking dully, "Betrayal hurts, but it forms us into something greater."I'll be upfront, sometimes Silco needs to go a little easier on this girl, constantly pushing ideas into her head and rushing her into something bigger than she may be capable of handling isn't a way to go about things. Though he has the best intentions, and raised this girl like his own, there have been flaws that are embedded in his methods.
"I think you need to go a little easier on her with this whole 'greater' talk," I begin, watching his grip tighten on the cig, taking a deep breath in, "Not that... talks shouldn't happen, but.."
"You question my way of upbringing, I'm trying to protect her."
"Yes, I understand that, but she does have a lot going on-"
"And what, you propose we wait for her to heal? She needs. To let. Go." Silco growls, smoke flowing out his nose as he does so, staring holes into me as I take a step back, nodding to him.
Making Silco angry was never a wise idea, so I take the hint and speak softly, "I'm sorry, it wasn't my place." and dismiss myself with that, leaving without another word more as I make my way towards where Jinx likes to hide most of her time during the day.Jinx was in her usual spot, in the middle of the turbine-esc based home in the same usual chair, working away at the one thing Silco was trying to push out of her.
I clear my throat loudly, but she ignores me, so I begin walking forward warily before I reach her workspace, standing next to the table as I stare down at her blueprints and tools.
"How are you feelin-"
"Shut up." She snaps, swinging her head to the side before looking back at the blueprints, sighing to herself as she looks up at me momentarily, then back at her work, scribbling notes on paper, "I don't know, I mean, pfft, not like my sister has been alive all this time! Silco didn't tell me, because I'm too weak, waa!" She mimes, her scribbling growing more and more aggressive as I lean beside the table, watching her as I let her rant it out, "She's not a sister, I mean what kind of sister abandons their other. 'I'll never leave you Powder!', 'Everything will be okay Powder!'." Jinx brings her fists down onto the desk, yelling out as she turns her head behind her, "MYLO SHUT UP!"It always hurt to see her in such a state, always asking questions and never being able to get the answers, so instead of saying anything I move to bring my hand over and onto her shoulder, but then retract it, figuring it might be better if I hadn't touched her during such a vulnerable state incase it sets her off.
She turns around, swinging her hair around as she grips her hair, her eyes flicking about warily as countless of hallucinates invade her vision, twitching about.
"Powder plea-"
"DON'T CALL ME THAT." She turns around sharply, rising from her chair as she sends it flying back into the table, rattling its contents as she sways herself to move towards me, shoving into the desk as the edges dig into my back.
"Jinx- Jinx I'm sorry just please take a deep breath. It's okay."
"It's okay! It's okay!" She mimics, which stings, but yet I still try to bring myself forward, hands in front of my chest.I choose not to speak, given her reactions maybe words aren't what she needs right now, instead, I extend my hand out once again and gently hold my gaze with her, softly placing my finger tips on her arm as she watches me, crazed and unpredictable.
She pauses, before glancing at the floor, staying still yet her chest still rises and falls dramatically, though she seems to be remotely calmer now, flinching at my touch.
"Silco thinks I'm weak..-"
"And he's wrong." I cut in, gently leaning forward as she looks up at me, gently guiding her to sit back down but she is quick to act on it, instead seating me down with a gentle shove as she grabs at a book from her shelf, slamming it open and pointing to a page, sitting herself in front of me on the desk as I gently roll my chair back the slightest bit for more personal space.Jinx sighs, flicking through the pages and glancing back at the blueprints occasionally, balancing a grenade in her hand and throwing it above lightly only to catch it straight after, leaning forward tiredly and resting her head against the top of mine, which causes me to freeze. She weaves the grenade in the air, mimicking flying it before reaching an end point, where a quiet "ppeuuww.." can be heard.
"You know sometimes I wonder what would happen if Vi never left me." She begins slowly, jerking again at the thought.
"Jinx I don't think talking about it will make you fee-"
"Would things be better..?" She cuts in, leaning up and glancing down at me, to which I just stare at her, trying to think up a decent and normal response that wouldn't set her off due to her already being in a pretty fragile state of mind.
"I'm not sure.." I reply, seemingly lost for words as she nods at this, swinging her legs over as she runs towards the other end of the table, picking up a few sheets.
"We need to head out of base."
"Head out? Silco would ki-"
"Oh please." She laughs, bringing the papers towards me, three in fact, all containing three unique faces as I flick through them, confused and trying to piece together what she exactly meant, "I need to track down three certain people, all of them containing a bit of Piltovers finest trinkets to accessorise the main weapon, plluuusss I'm bored, so!" She giggles, snatching the papers back and shoving it into her pocket, as she prances around.I stand up, staring at her as I grit my teeth, "I'm... not sure that's a..."
"You've got these," She runs up to me, taking my hands and brandishing my knuckles in the air, "and I've got these!" She brings up a grenade in front of my face, the cap locked off and the timer ringing as I yelp out, my hands going towards my face to try and prepare myself from a large blow, and it indeed sets off with a large bang.Of purple... pink glitter sparkle things...
"Oh you.." I let out a nervous laugh, before she runs towards me and embraces me in a tight hug, giggling to herself.
"You're doing great y/n!" She smiles, giving me a long squeeze before releasing me, throwing a bag over her shoulder as she begins to run out of the room, "Now come on! Time's a-ticking!"★゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜☆゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜★゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜
