I pause at her words, frowning at them as I scan over her back for any major scars, finding a nasty jab near her lower back, gently brushing away excess dirt, grabbing at a wipe and damping it with water as I exhale softly.
"Well I can assure you're not pathe-"
"Think about it," she interrupts, her head bouncing with each word that is spoken, digging her nails into her arms, "I keep seeing her. I keep seeing THEM. I'm about as good at my job as I am a child." She mutters, inhaling softly as I press the wet cloth on the wound, tensing up.
"Silco wouldn't cling to you as much as he does if he knew you weren't capable at what you do." I mutter, gently dragging the wet fabric slowly across her lower back to clean the jab, listening for any signs of extreme pain.
"He's waiting for something big," She grunts, digging her face back into her arms, muffling her speech, "make the weapon Jinx!!! we need you Jinx!!! I trust you Jinx!" She mimics him angrily, then proceeds to gasp out loudly and tilt her head back after I accidentally press too hard on the wound.
"Shit- sorry, sorry.." I mumble, staring down at her expression, with her mouth slightly agap and her face twisted in pain as she leans forward, arching her back into my hand and clenching her fists.Holy shit.
I shake my head, feeling her untense and curse me out, to which I apologise for again.
"You're not pathetic for not being able to handle... trauma," I begin, clearing my throat as she stays silent, listening in to what I have to say, "You're very intelligent in what you do, very intelligent I mean look at the stuff you create.." we both simultaneously glance to the left, staring down at the scattered inventions she has managed to create within spurts of minutes, hell maybe hours for bigger projects.
"Powder, listen to me.."
"Please don't call me that.."
I grab at her shoulders softly, turning her around and twisting our bodies to the right before pressing her back against the table warily, the both of us still sitting on the floor, "Trauma will never define the type of person you are, or may be, it will never make you less of a human than someone who is lucky enough to have never experienced any trauma." I say softly, watching as her eyes stay locked onto mine, staring shyly as she brings her hands softly to her chest, leaning her head back onto the table, "The amount of men Silco has thrown away for making mistakes, but yet as many as you may think you have made, you're still here, with him, with us."Jinx shifts on the floor, adjusting her position, her gaze averting to stare off past me. I've never really seen her so still in my life before, she's always known to be the extra lively, bouncy girl that never stops moving. Yet here she was, as still as she has ever been.
She then glances up at me, lifting her hands up and running them up my chest as I inhale, holding my breath and mumbling a soft, "what are you doing..". Her hands travel up my chest, to my shoulders and then her arms wrap around my neck, pulling me in as she leans her head beside mine, inching towards my ear as she breathes slowly. I feel my face heat up, my hands unconsciously wandering to her sides as I hold them, pulling her in as well before I feel her lips brush against my ear, "Y/N.. you know.." she trails off, a hand moving to my back as I close my eyes. I know what..?
Click.
A loud explosion sounds as Jinx throws herself back, laughing maniacally as I brace myself from the sound and slight impact of another one of her sparkly, fake grenades coating my back, groaning from the pressure released onto the bruises on my back.
"You're too cute, Y/N." She smiles wickedly, and I glare up at her, wincing as I rub my back with my hand, hoisting myself to stand with a limp.
Of course the moment will be short-lived, like I mentioned, she isn't often so still, and if she is, it's never for any good reason.I turn my body around, beginning to make my way out of her hideout, before I feel a firm grip wrap around my wrist, being tugged back gently, "wait-" Jinx whispers, and I turn back to look at her, "where are you going..?"
"Powder, my back kills, that wasn't funny."
Jinx pauses, her grip tightening on my wrist as she inhales, staring at the floor with wide eyes as she then releases my wrist, causing me to turn around to look at her as she grips her head>
"IT'S NOT FUNNY!" She yells out, stumbling back as she suddenly turns behind her, unsheathing her pistol within the blink of an eye as she points around, "I'M WARNING YOU SHUT UP!"
"Powder-"
"I SAID SHUT UP-" She spins around, firing the gun that barely misses the side of my face, the bullet skimming my cheek and cutting through it, causing me to freeze up in fear, staring at the floor, forgetting to breathe.Jinx on the other hand, was getting a little too carried away with her breathing, breaking as she drops her gun, running up to me and cupping the sides of my faces, "no-no, no! I'm sorry I'm sorryimsorry-" she pleads, her voice cracking as I glance up at her, "were you shot?! are you hurt? MYLO THIS IS ALL YOUR FUCKING FAULT SHUT UP!" She yells out again, and my hands dash up to firmly grip her wrists now, walking her back and pressing her against the table.
"Powder, I'm fine, it was just a scra-"
"It could've been more! What if it was fatal?!" the panic in her voice was very evident, tugging at my wrists as I gently coo to her.
"Powder, I'm fine.." I frown, releasing her wrists as she finds her hands to my sides, clutching on before wrapping them fully around my waist, pulling me in and hugging me tightly, apologising over and over.I place my hand on top of her head slowly, brushing through her blue hair and fiddling with her braids, gently swaying us side to side.
She glances up at me after a few moments, gazing at me with big and scared eyes, before whispering, "I may know a way to make it up to you.."
"Mm..?" I hum, my eyes very gradually widening as I feel her slowly lean in, only stopping when our lips our inches away from each other.
"Powder.."
Her hands gently run up my sides, feeling the air leave my lungs as she rakes her nails back down them and resting at my hips, brushing her lips slowly against mine. I hold back a whimper, unable to piece together what is going on and whether I should allow it, but my thought process is cut short, before I feel her fully lean in to connect our lips together, tilting her head as my stomach explodes.
