"I promise, I'll be back before breakfast my love."
The only words I have to go on with from my husband. There's no time to waste. I ran into grandma Belle's room to wake her up.
"Kyna? What's going on?" she asks completely disoriented. We hear footsteps echoing throughout our house. There's people inside the palace. Servants run off to hide. Some screaming when they hear gun shots raining throughout the home.
"I can't explain. Please just trust me. We have to go right now! Where are the kids?" I asked and she gestured to the beds next to hers in the large room. I go to pick up one of the three and she grabs the other two. We run through the palace to the very end of the hallway, down the stairs to the basement. We hide in the second room as instructed by Valentino. The room was large. The children began to awaken slightly and grandma Belle asks again, why are we here in this basement. I look at her as the world around us begins to crumble. Men have stormed the palace and they might not stop until they find us. Or more importantly, and not in a concieted way, they won't stop until they find me.
» Valentino's P.O.V.«
“I promise, I'll be back before breakfast my love." the words I said echoed in my head as I drove in my Ford mustang to the Notre Dame cathedral. Romeo confirmed that they made it to the safe room. I told him to regroup with me. Antonio stands outside the cathedral, leaning on his 9/11 Porche carrera. I had my suspicions about Sam, and now that know he's the son of Pierre, my vengeance loins hotter than the flames of hell.
"Val are you ready?" Antonio asks me with his gun hoisted up in his hands. The dark and gloomy weather made the streets of Paris devoid of people. Which played in my favor. Less people around means less casualties. I nod my head and grab the pin out of the grenade. As the doors of the cathedral opened I threw in the activated grenade. Using an explosion to announce our presence and bullets are fired off. We drew our own weapons and fired rapidly away, killing whoever stood in our way. The amount of men we saw lined up to kill us dropped like flies. I'd expected nothing less from Pierre than an onslaught of killers alike waiting to catch the body of a rich man. When the shooting paused briefly, we walked into the church. On the pillars were multiple candles, illuminating the room with a warm orange glow that dimly lit up the place. Thunder roared outside as Antonio walked down the red carpeted aisle that led to the threshold of the church. There Pierre stood before us, dressed in a white robe and a sash adorned over his shoulders with golden crossed on it. His men rose from their seats when we entered and sat when we reached the altar. Each of his men were dressed in black and hooded so that we couldn't see their faces. Pierre raised his hands to the heavens and spoke.
"We are gathered here today as children of the lord. John eight verse seven says, 'let he who is without sin be the first to cast a stone.' and now I ask you boys, between us three and everyone else in this room, who here is without sin?" he says as he placed his gun on the open Bible before him.
"Why did you do it Pierre?" my brother and I asked in unison. Antonio and I are standing back to back, facing pierre. One hand pointing a gun at him and the other pointing a gun at his men.
"It's my right to rule. I should've been the ruler of this kingdom, if it weren't for Marcello getting in my way. I should've had the Russian mafia kill him." he says as he pulled out two guns from his clothes and pointed them at my brother and I's heads.
"Drop your guns boys, let me release you from sin, from worldly pain and strife. Let me set you free from this world." he says to us. Me and Antonio do as we are told, dropping our guns and raising our hands in the air.
