It was an hour into the party and Cassie longed to go home. Emma was on her third drink and was sloppily making out with - who Cassie assumed to be - Nick. She decided to explore the house with her unoccupied time. The living and dining room were packed with bodies dancing, talking and drinking. So she walked into the long carpeted hallway that led up the stairs. Upstairs there were many rooms including a grand bathroom with a large claw foot tub with a golden faucet. The floor was shiny and tiled, fluffy salmon colored towels hung on the towel racks. Cassie stumbled along dazed at the beauty of the house, she unlaced her boots and let her feet sink into the wine colored carpeting. She wandered into another large room that she assumed was a guest room. It had a large king size bed covered in a thick gold comforter and silky white sheets with soft feather filled pillows. Gossamer curtains hung in a big canopy over the bed, dim yellow light spilled over the room from a chandelier that hung from the ceiling. The flowered wallpaper was covered in dust, Cassie cracked open a large window letting a small breeze blow through, making the curtains stir. She flopped down on the bed and a cloud of dust rose up into the air. Regardless of the dust Cassie was comfortable and seemed to sink deep into it's softness

When Cassie woke up the moon was high in the sky, and her phone said it was 1:00 Am. "Shit." Cassie mumbled
She quickly got up and made her way to the door when suddenly it swung open and a boy appeared with her doc's in his hands. He smiled "Missing something?" The boy was very tall and shifty-eyed, he stepped closer to Cassie and shut the door. He smelled like tequila and smoke. Cassie's pulse sped up and she stumbled on her words, " Actually.. yes, thank you I was just going..." She trailed off.
" I don't think so." He stepped even closer and shoved her onto the bed.
Cassie thrashed around but he held her down in an iron grip. She spat in his face. "Fucking bitch!" He glowered, then he hit her in the side of the head with a heavy candle holder. Cassie's ears started to ring and her vision was blurry. She was vaguely aware of some blood trickling into her eye. Suddenly the window opened fully and a gust of cold air blew through the room. A boy with inky black hair, pointed ear's, and pale almost translucent skin entered.
He had a large silver sword that made a slick, wet sound as he stabbed the other boy. Cassie felt herself being gently picked up and wrapped in a soft blanket. The raven haired boy quickly ran his long fingers down the side of her head, he pulled his hand away, it was coated in ruby colored liquid. He frowned. Cassie slumped further into his arms, her vision had gone black, she noticed that he smelled of wet leaves. The last thing she remembered before she fell completely into darkness was his soft, musical sounding voice. " I won't let anyone harm you."
