It had been a week since I had found myself a complete mess, sprawled out on the stiff tile floor of my best friend's master bathroom. A week since I had understood, the love of my life was worth fighting for.

It had been a painful process, it had taken a million tears to build the courage to love Branden unashamedly, even it meant losing my best friend. But that morning, I had woken up and I was determined to give it a try.

We had cut each other deep. I had wounded him when I had abandoned even the slightest attempt at being together.

He had used me, in return. He had given me a taste of the fruit I was not to savor again. The delicious taste of his tumultuous affections.

Oh, how I could still feel him deep inside me. The memory brought sensations too strong for me to bear alone, so here I was, on my way to his home.

As I stood only inches from his front door, about of nausea washed over me. I lifted my hand to knock on the door, then dropped it again. I charged my lungs with the longest of breaths and elevated my fist to the broad wood once more.

I knocked hard, so hard in fact, that it made my knuckles hurt momentarily. I kept my eyes glued to the ground as I heard the door swing open.

"Hello?!" There stood a very toned, redheaded, statuesque girl. She wore a summery outfit, a sizeable portion of her stomach was bare. She placed her hand on her pronounced hip. "Are you lost?" She asked, her voice condescending and high-pitched.

I turned around and started to walk away. Her flawlessness pierced me like a dagger and made me feel diminutive.

"Whateves!" I heard her exclaim, indifferently, from behind me. Her exotic accent gave her an air of superiority and uniqueness that utterly demolished me.

"Tatiana?" Branden's voice called, right before I was going to sit inside my parked car. I looked up over the roof of my car. The expression on his face was of absolute surprise as he stepped past the impressive redhead and towards me.

"I was just leaving," I told him, ignoring the urge to hug him and slap him at the same time.

"Do you know her?" The redhead interjected, her asymmetrical face all bent out of shape and indignant.

Branden stood in the middle of his huge driveway, her voice not having the slightest impact on his demeanor. I noticed that his bed hair was in perfect disarray,

"I'll catch up later," he replied, without taking his eyes off me.

"But we need to finalize..." she insisted, crossing her long, slim arms.

"I said...we will continue this, Monday." He spoke harshly, throwing her one of his sharp and ruthless looks.

I watched as she awkwardly picked up her purse from inside his house. She gifted me with a murderous glance as she got closer to her vehicle. She flipped her curly hair, clearly annoyed as she disappeared within.
