-Emiko Hakamada POV-

"Dad? Have you seen my shoes?" I yelled through the house.
"Under the sofa, Emi!" he yelled back from downstairs.
I ran down the stairs, quickly making a ponytail.

"Now, I taught you better" he smiled and undid my ponytail.
"Dad... not now... I'm gonna be late for school" I complained.
"Yeah, yeah. And I'll be late for work" he said, doing my hair anyway.

"You're the boss" I said and eyed him. "You can afford to be late"
"Doesn't excuse being late, little mouse" he said and finished doing my hair.
"Being the number 4 hero must be so hard, dad" I said with sarcasm.

You see, my dad's the number 4 hero: "Best Jeanist"
"Get to school, mouse" he said and gave me my bag. "Text me when you get there"
"Promise" I said and kissed his cheek. "Bye dad!"

I ran to school, hoping that I wouldn't be late.
Which, of course I wasn't in the end.
"You're cutting it kind of close, Emi" said Hitoshi, my best friend.

"I made it in time, didn't I?" I said and smiled.
"How you do it, is a mystery" he said and I chuckled.
"Well, my dad can be scary when he's ticked off" I said.

"Good morning students" said Miss Himiko. "Today we'll be discussing your high school plans. I see 2 students here have decided to try to go to UA. Hakamada and Shinso"
Some students began to laugh but I glared at them.
"You got a problem with that?" I said.

"Please, Hakamada" laughed the bully of the class, Yuki. "You both have villain quirks. You can't be serious of becoming a hero"
"Really? Why is that?" I said.
"Silence" said Miss Himiko. "Mister Lian, we don't refer to people's quirks as villain quirks. Next time, that comment will go onto your record"

I smiled, Miss Himiko was nice, she always stood up for those whose quirks seemed villainous.
"Now, Hakamada, Shinso. You both have excellent test scores, I'm sure you'll both do great" she said.
"Thank you, Miss Himiko" I smiled and I looked at Hitoshi.
I couldn't wait for the two of us to start our hero training.

"Dad, did you see the news?" I asked. "A new hero, Mount Lady"
"Yeah" said dad. "She looks like a handful"
"I think she'll be funny" I said and chuckled.

"Emiko" he said and suddenly, the atmosphere at home turned serious...
"Okay, what trouble am I in?" I asked and he laughed.
"No trouble" he said. "But, I did manage to get you into UA, if you do the recommendations exam"

"Dad" I said and grabbed his hands, I was wearing my gloves, so I wouldn't accidentally decay anything. "We talked about this. I want to become a hero, just like you. But I want to do it on my own. No help, no special treatment"

"When did you get so grown up?" he said and hugged me. "I'm so proud of you"
"Dad, I didn't pass yet" I said and hugged him back.
"Doesn't matter" he said. "I'm still proud of you, little mouse"

Soon the time of the entrance exams was there.
"Dad, Hitoshi's mom is driving us" I said. "Don't you dare to get near the school"
"Can't I just come to support my lovely daughter?" he said and I rolled my eyes.

"No, because then the media would show up" I said. "And we don't want that, now do we?"
"Fine" he said reluctantly. "But at least call me when the test is over"
"Promise, dad" I said and walked outside of our house to Hitoshi's place.

"Oh, Emiko!" it was his mom.
"Hello Mrs. Shinso" I smiled. "Thank you for driving me"
"Oh, it's no problem sweetheart" she said and I got into the car.

"Are you nervous?" I asked Hitoshi.
"A bit" he said. "You?"
"Yeah" I admitted. "But, I trained the best that I could. So I know I'm prepared for almost anything"

We arrived at UA, it was huge...
"Whoa" I whispered when I saw the building.
"Seriously, your dad's the number four hero" said Hitoshi. "How come you're still not used to this stuff"

"I'll never get used to this stuff" I said and chuckled.
But the laughter soon stopped when someone literally fell on me.
"Ow..." I said and saw a face way too close to mine.

"I'm so sorry!" he yelled and got off me, he had green curly hair.
"It's fine" I said and he held his hand out, I looked at my hand, it had become a habit ever since that day... when I saw that I had my gloves on, I accepted his hand and he helped me up.

"I'm so sorry!" he said again and I chuckled.
"It's fine really" I said.
"Emi, you okay?" said Hitoshi.

"I'm fine, Hito" I said and looked at the boy. "Good luck"
Hitoshi dragged me with him inside, before I had the chance to say anything else to the boy.
