Prologue

"Can we over over the rules one more time?"

"Dad I already know what not to do. Don't worry too much."

"Are you sure you wanna do this? You can still attend the private school with your sister."

"Yeah because private schools and me are just so tight." I sighed. I really didn't want to go over this again with him. I was surprised he even agreed to this! We were already outside the house just sitting in the car. My head throbbed and the silence was peaceful but I would rather not go over this entire discussion again. He didn't mind the me moving into my aunts' house outside of Seattle so I can go to public school for all of high school deal but  all I might end up doing is mess it all up. We all just moved up to America coming from England. My dad thought it was a good choice as well as me but my mom and sister didn't really agree with that. It was like a new start here for me. As long as no one who knew who I was recognized me.

"Are you even listening to me?" He turned and glared at me. I can see Malcolm in the drivers seat get out to start with my bags.

"Of course."

"Then what did I say?" His british accent is as strong as ever.

"You said that mom and Anne don't think that this will work out but we both know that they are wrong right?" I sigh; at this pace he won't let me leave the car. "Daddy listen," I say as turn my body to face his. "This is what I want and it is your job to give whatever my heart desires." He starts to smile and loosen up. "I love you okay and you know I will call and visit. It's not like we are on different sides of the world. You are in the city and I can  get someone to drive me up whenever I want. If I were enrolled in that private boarding school I would hardly ever get to visit you. So look at this as a win win."

"We are still gonna talk. Nothing will change."

"Yes. Now I'm gonna head in and start unpacking and I will talk to you later."

"Wait!" he exclaims as I start taking my bags from the trunk to hurry the process. I look up to my dad who has gotten out of the back seat who now stands in front of me waiting for Malcolm to bring my bags to the house so he wasn't in ear shot distance. "When was the last time you saw him."

I inhale deeply. "6 weeks." I exhale as I rolled my eyes. I see him looking at me with disappointment. "Don't worry I will see him soon though."

"I won't be able to consistently remind you."

"I know."

"You know how you..."

"I know!" I cut him off quickly. "Im sorry but I really just wanna get moved in. I'm just really excited." I smile.

"You aunt will be in shortly."

"I know Carrie is coming over to help and I'm gonna stay at her place for dinner." He looks down at me looking like my father rather than the multi-billionaire business man. I hug him quick as I tip toe up to kiss him on the cheek.

"Dont get in trouble." He says as he gives me that look and I know what he means. He starts to head back into the car as Malcolm starts to walk towards to drivers seat.

"You mean don't get caught." I leap onto the sidewalk and run up the front steps. I can see Carrie looking through her window of her house next door peeping. I carry the remaining bags inside not wanting to watch him leave. I had to get used to this because in this life he doesn't exist.
