Rin
"Are you sure about this Len?" I ask as we walk up to the dark building.
"Of course I am! You don't trust your own brother, whom you shared a womb with for nine months?" He asks like the smartass he is.
"Shut up." I shove him before he climbs the fence. He jumps down and faces me through the thick iron bars.
"What're you waiting for? Come on!" He grins at me and gestures for me to follow him. I groan and climb over the tall fence.
"Shit! Gah..." I look at the underside of my forearm and see a short but deep gash. "This is all your fault Len." I glare at him.
"You're fine! Keep up." He keeps going, disregarding my injury which is dripping blood onto my white shirt and on the ground.
"Ugh..." I stomp after him, ignoring the searing pain.
The doors are large sheets of worn iron that stand in our way, until Len gives it a good push. They slowly creak open to reveal a single switchboard.
"Turn it on." Len tells me, so I do. I flip two switches cautiously, which triggers lights and alarms to blare at us from all around.
"WARNING!"
"TURN BACK NOW!
"KEEP OUT!"
"...help us..."
I cling to Len in fear as the floor in front of us lights up to show a girl with long teal pigtails, gears turning around her wrists, and an odd tattoo beneath her red eye.
"WELCOME TO MY MUSIC FACTORY~!" She shouts, gesturing to her sides. The lights turn on to reveal person after person, looking miserable and nearly dead. They were like zombies.
"I was the one who brought you here." She says, turning and sitting in her over elaborate throne.
"Just as you humans have to eat food, I must eat music!" She brings out a table in front of her and presses different buttons, which trigger screams from her slaves.
"Make me more, more! MORE!" She bangs on the table, which somehow moves the slaves so that they're behind us. Suddenly, the girl stands up harshly.
"YOU THERE!" She points at Len and I, terrifying us. "WHY ARE YOU STOPPING?! YOU THINK I DIDN'T SEE YOU THERE? IF YOU DARE SLACK OFF AGAIN, CONSIDER THIS PLACE YOOUR GRAVE. ARE WE CLEAR? EH?"
Whimpering, I slide to the ground and hug my knees to my chest. Out of both fear and blood loss. "This is all your fault, Len."
"I'm always eating, but I keep getting hungry! None of you can understand my misery." The girl begins to float in the air with the help of two speaker-like devices. She stops again and looks towards me, but not at me. I look to my left and don't see Len.
"Oh my, one missing? Could he have escaped? Naa, it's not possible." She says waving it off, but her crimson eyes still scan the room angrily.
"Rin!" I hear a whisper from above me and see that Len has crawled up in the rafters. "Get up here!"
I try to stand up, but fail. My blood stained the ground and my shirt, leaving a trail from when we came in. "I can't..." I say, my voice weak and hoarse.
"Rin, please!" Len whispers, his voice in a hurried manner.
"I'm sorry, Len. Go on without me." I say, my eyes pricking with tears.
"No." His voice is firm.
Suddenly, the girl disappears and various TV screens take her place. Her face appears on one. "Oh, that daring fugitive... Where could he have gone off to~?" Her face jumps around to different monitors as her maniacal laughter echoes through the room.
Then the lights turn off, and all I hear is silence.
~^~*~^~
I wake up to harsh alarms, screams, and loud wind.
"NOW I'M RETURNING TO THE DARKNESS WHERE I CAME FROM!" I can't see her, but I can hear the girl through the wind. "I'll tear apart this story to pieces and chew it thoughtfully, but I will never be full." Her voice is toned in a low growl.
Suddenly a loud crashing sound echoes through the room, leaving a sharp ring in my ears.
"I WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE!" I can see a sliver of light above me and the girl's face in between steel panels, which she's trying desperately to pry apart. After she speaks those five words, her speech is garbled and then the panels slam into each other.
A single note rings throughout the room.
Silence... until-
CRACK!
White light causes me to cover my eyes, as the girl flies out of the shattered panels and into my face.
"You're a very lucky girl." She coos at me. "But he isn't."
My voice is shaky. "Who?"
She smirks evilly.
"Your brother."
